Default Topps 1998 Sportzcubz

We had a thread on these sometime back and someone was selling some here. I bought one. This listing is apparently for a full set. Pretty unique and rare test/prototype item ( not my listing)

The Ebay seller is a member here. These are super tough prototypes.

Indeed. Interesting idea but one that really seems odd in retrospect. Guess they failed their field test or never got out of the gate at Topps. Are these on the PSA Registry?

PSA gives them an N9 qualifier probably because they are so rare. Cool prototypes.

Beckett did grade one Jeter earlier this year. I have 3 examples a Jeter, Bonds and an Andy Pettitt. Now that Becket has graded a number of examples and I found a couple of older SCD guides that list them I will resubmit them to PSA at some point. I talked at legnth to the son of the Topps Executive who bought the cards home after Topps made the decision not to move forward on production of the series. It was right after they were listed here on BST and it took a couple months for all the examples he had to find there way to collectors hands. Acvording to him 3 or 4 complete sets and one or two extra Jeters. So a scarce issue that seems to be finding more interst as time goes on. Not many offered up for sale as most are in single player collections but commons come up now and then.
