Hanna Batrite Rudy York bat
I recently purchased a Hanna Batrite York Style bat which I believe was made in the 1930s - not sure if it's professional or store model although my view of the markings is that it is a store model for this era and manufacturer . It does have the TA designation which I understand from my reading that makes it a higher quality bat? Also marked 34 " on the knob. Any info you can give me about this bat would be great. Thanks

I do not believe any Batrite bat with the length indicated on the knob is a pro-model bat. The pro-model lengths, from what I've read, would be found right after the model number, which should be on the barrel brand (it doesn't look like yours has the model number stamped into the barrel). The stamp of the length into the knob would, to me, be an indicator of a store model bat. The stamp of the WEIGHT into the knob is an indicator of a pro-model bat.
The pro-model Batrites that I've handled have all had the "TA" designation; according to the 1930-33 catalogs that I've seen, the "TA" was a higher quality wood that cost more than the "A" bats. Here's a really good article by Dave Bushing that lays out some specific indicators of Batrite pro-model bats: http://www.mearsonline.com/index.php...t01returnid=98 -Al |

Some of the few last name only have inch marks.
Combination 2: Atwood, with inch marks and name only on barrel Professional model bats can be found with player’s last name only on barrel and no other factory markings. When bats are marked in this fashion, they are most commonly found with inch marks on the knob, which are considered acceptable for barrel markings, although the examined Atwood had the 1930 patent date, which is most often associated with combination 1 barrel markings.
