Mark BomiaI have been collecting 19th century college football autographs for over 20 years. Unfortunately, it is a hobby that not too many collectors are interested in. So to provide a little interest (and fun), I am offering a $250 finders fee for EACH of the following autographs I need for my collection (and $500 for one specific player). My only requirement is that I must acquire an authentic original autograph, on any medium, in order to claim the fee. Obviously this fee would be paid on top off whatever I end up paying for the piece. Also, I'm only offering one fee per player (first come, first served). So here is the list:
1. Frank Hinkey (1871-1925)- played end for Yale 1891-94, All-American for all four years. Coached the Yale football team from 1914-15. Helped coach the Dayton Triangles. Died from tuberculosis in 1925. Member of the inaugural Hall of Fame class. I will pay a $500 finders fee for his signature!
2. Marshall Newell (1871-1897)- played tackle for Harvard from 1890-93. Killed by a train.
3. Philip King (1872-1938) - played QB for Princeton from 1890-93. Later coached the Wisconsin football team from 1896-1902.
4. Francis Gordon Brown (1879-1911) - Played guard for Yale from 1897-1900. Died from a rare kidney disease.
5. John Heisman (1869-1936) - infamous coach which the greatest college football award was posthumously named after.
6. George Gipp (1895-1920) - Notre Dame legend. The only non 19th century autograph I'm looking for. But there is another requirement for him. The signature must contain his full name.
That's it. Hope to hear from someone. Also, if others are willing to offer finders fee for certain autographs, please continue the thread.
Very Respectfully,
Dr. Mark Bomia
