Most posters on this board would never admit to collecting reprints. Many won't even acknowledge their existence.

But for those who either cannot or choose not to spend ridiculous amounts of money on small bits of cardboard, reprints can be quite nice. They can even be a gateway to collecting the real thing.

The T206 set can be bought on ebay, and is recommended if you like that era. The E120 American Caramel set is also a good one, as the card stock and other elements make it very close to the original (aside from the word "reprint" on the back).

TCMA and Dover have nice reprint sets, there is also a nice Cracker Jack reprint set. If you like pre-war on a budget you could collect the early 90's conlon series or the 61 Fleer.

I really enjoy collecting the 1970’s TCMA reprint sets because they are collectible in and of themselves now. They were printed in pretty limited quantities nearly 50 years ago now and have become a collectible that is growing in popularity (as are all collectors issues nowadays). Also, they are much tougher to find than many realize.

Somehow I missed this thread.

I absolutely love reprint sets and have many of them.

The Renata Gallaso reprint 1933 Goudey set is a nice one.

I don't have a problem with the concept of collecting reprints but some of them that I've seen are glossier than I'd like. Just doesn't look right.

The only problem with them looking more realistic is way more would end up graded real in PSA slabs, in my opinion of course.
