Sitting on the board of Topps would have been my dream job. (Pauses a moment, stares at the gray walls of his cubicle.) Hell, it still might be. Anyway, it sounds like Topps is going to withstand this challenge. |

I just wish they would go back to the old days of issuing them in series and available ONLY in waxpacks with the gum. And make the last series a short print. And switch a couple players pictures mid print run if they got traded. That would generate interest. |

Right there with the candy bars and the tabloid papers. If they did that now, I'd actually buy a few packs everytime I went to the supermarket. Opening pakcs of cards is fun. You miss out on that collecting vintage stuff. |

We can't go back to the old days, they're gone forever. But if we could, I think I might just give it a shot. |

Many of our collecting roots (myself included) began with Topps. I would venture to say that very few of our first cards were T206's. I still purchase wax boxes of the base products (minimal insert crap) for football and baseball each year. Opening the packs and putting together sets reminds me of simpler days gone by not to mention that I am still an avid fan of each sport. These will be the first cards that I share with my son and possibly my daughter when they are ready/interested. The specifics escape me, but I know that the industry has undergone some downsizing in the past couple of years, hopefully Topps can cut the fat and be in position to be the industry leader (and put aspartame free gum right next to cards again instead of in little cello packs). |

The old days were good, there is no denying that. The new days are good, there is no denying that. Topps is not in my new days. I have a bit of nostalgia, but no real interest in Topps. |
