I used to see David at Ft. Washington shows before I left the East Coast. He would gladly take as much time as you wanted to talk about collecting. I learned a lot about non-sport sets from him and we shared a few laughs, too - I'll miss him. |

I am also deeply saddened by this news. David was not only a dealer that helped me build my tobacco album collection, but was considered a hobby friend who I always made a point of stopping and talking to when I went to a show. The Englishman will be missed. |

Wow - very sad news. David was a fellow Jerseyite (from Hopewell). He was always a great source for non-sports items and helped me find some cards of DeWolf Hopper and college silks/leathers/cards when I was looking for them. |

I wanted to add, I knew David for over 15 years. He was knowledgeable and always took the time to talk when I saw him at a show, just loved talking cards. When he had something special to show me, I knew long before a word was spoken between us...you could see a twinkle in his eye and that cat that ate the bird smile on his face. |

Dave was VERY knowledgable of all the non-sports issues. Very passionate and sometimes got into some debates with people on the non-sports side but only because of his passion and beliefs. Saw him at the national this year walking around. He was always a very friendly person and could unearth some great items. I bought many items from him on ebay over the years. He'll be sadly missed on the NS side.....Just remember, when it all boils down to it, this stuff is just cardboard......lots more important stuff...... |

I would say David was over 50, but it would be difficult to guess his actual age. One thing I can say, is he was young at heart. Always |

59? Wow, that's young, at least to me it is since I am turning 58 this year. Sad to hear of the passing of a fellow collector who everyone seemed to like, especially when so many jackasses in this world live to be 90.... |

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Grimes in the Fall of 1995. He had a bunch of S74 silks, and I purchased a George Gibson S74, which is now part of a George Gibson display piece which sits above my computer. |
