Great card, Cat. The best card under six figures in all the auctions this past month IMO. I am green with envy.

Hey Darren,

That attached thing-a-ma-jig on the bottom of the card really takes away from its presentation. Don't ya sometimes feel like cracking the card out and cutting that thing off

Really nice pick up!

Leon

I just noticed, for the first time, that Nebinger is missing the ending quote marks from "Big Eater". What do you suppose is the story behind this?

I never noticed the other quotations missing on the Nebinger Bigeater. It's missing on the one I have for sale too or I would have to be looking for Kevin S to see if he handled these before me .

The Pathe Frere's Ruth card was in the recent Mastro auction. I bought it as an upgrade as mine has the two side borders trimmed away. It is one of my fave Ruth cards/poses...

The armband is probably to memorialize Ray Chapman's death but I am not positive.....

edited to add...I love Mastro and REA auctions but this Ruth is one of those things that can get lost in a 1700+- lot auction....especially if it's not in with the cards, as it wasn't.....

This card is now in my son's E210 set. I've been building this set for him since 1980. A rare upgrade and best example I've seen. Thanks Tik!

on that Close Candy card!

I don't collect those, but may I ask - is that the only card with that image, do you know?
if so, what might be the cheapest option if I wanted to obtain one?

I ask, because sometimes, the images are used in multiple issues, and my vintage knowledge is limited to tobacco cards, mostly...
thanks,
Jason

I don't "think" that Crawford image is used on any other cards but not positive. A regular Crawford in gd-vg should be in the 500-800 range....imo

Richard- thanks.....I figured there was another that is why I was a little "hesitant" in my response. A Crawford E271 would cost multiples of an E94 Crawford in gd+.....

Darren- I guess I have 20-30 Ruth cards now....not too many mainstream ones...
