I can think of 3 or 4 players who couldn't have been to psyched about where they were placed in that collage.

Very cool, though.

The blue and orange are recent pick-ups, thanks to two Net54ers who helped me complete the Lajoie superfecta. Thought I'd post all four together. (If someone can assist with an upgrade to the blue, I'm all ears. )

The "Bat On" is a recent pick up from the B/S/T (thanks Rick) to complete my quartet of low grade Cobbs.

Dave:

Cool Highlandres P/C, I've never seen one of those before. I'm sure it is not catalogued anywhere. It's hard to read the player names from the scan, are there any HOF'ers on there?

Phil-

Thanks. I don't have it in hand yet...I can't make out any of the names any better than you really. Although, I don't even know if there were any HOF'ers on the NY team in 1911. If there were they are escaping my mind.

The 1911 Highlanders were a lousy team with Chase as their only star.

David Rudd had said the postcard was sold in a MastroNet auction a few years back. Would anyone know who to get results from MastroNet auctions at this point? Or if its before Mastro are those long gone as far as results online?

I think there must be some way to retrieve old Mastro results as Zach has posted a few old auction links in the past.

My first Cabanas card. I didn't realize these are actually on card stock, not thin paper.

That's interesting that the Type II have Frisco and the Type 1 San Francisco.

Picked this up on eBay. The condition is great. The upper right hand corner is not a crease, just a small wrinkle/blemish on the photo.

Just back from SGC..........

Just back from GAI and includes the ultra-tough Barney Dreyfuss in the center of the card.........

GAI also graded and encapsulated my 1894 Baltimore Orioles Team Pendant listed on page 557 in Dr. Muchinsky's book of pinbacks. I am trying to make a decent scan of that piece to post as well.

Phil,

Incredible, as always! Getting Barney Dreyfuss, without having to buy the 1910 Tip Top, is quite the accomplishment. Undoubtedly, his rookie also. Nice job!

Great pick-ups. I often think about limiting my collection to the first five in the HOF.

Thanks, Joe D and Ken W,

To answer your question, Joe, the back is blank except for all of the Pirates players listed in pencil cursive writing running down the back of the card.

This came from REA today. I posted it before on the REA thread, but I'm pretty excited about it, so I'm posting it again. The staining / rusting actually looks much worse in the scan than in person.

Hi Dave, Great postcard.

The Sports Postcard Price Guide lists a "New York Highlanders 1911 Sporty Postal Card Co of Newark NJ, Sepia Postcard" on page 57. The guide doesn't show a photo, but this is probably the pc that is mentioned in the book. The guide list this card @ $200-250 in EX condition, but the guide was published in 1998, so the $250 is probably very low considering the rarity of the pc and the fact that the guide is 10 years old.

Cool pc. Enjoy!

Rick

Hi Rick,

Thanks for the info. Another board member had emailed me a couple different prices where this card (sold once) and the Athletics version were both sold in the past 5 years and they were all in the $900-1250 range, although I couldn't tell the condition of but one.

Dave
