I was really hoping whatever came next would use AI to make the human element less of a factor.

Agreed! One or two AI could replace dozens of graders, and crank out a thousand+ per day.

I am very happy to see another grading company from a respected parent company. We need another good one.
That said you will see their advertising here soon...

I like the idea of another TPG coming in to the picture cause it will force the others to step up their game. I also like that it's coming from an already established grading company because I already trust them more than if it was just some random company trying to break into the business.

Default AI Based Grading

FWIW - to follow on my post from a couple months ago - i am in the actual build process on a machine learning based system. I will have a prototype to share in the next couple months - at first it will only work with a few sets (couple vintage and a couple modern). Im self-funding for now but will likely take some venture money on in the fall.

Right now I am trying to get in touch with some recent/former graders from any of the major card services to give us some more readily accessible training data so if anyone here has done professional grading please get in touch with me. Also if anyone has a contact w the leadership at SGC that would also be helpful as they only list a few employees on Linkedin....
