Tim Kurkjian of ESPN and I were interviewed about the life and career of Walter Johnson. One hour.

What a great interview and experience listening to these stories about a legend that I honestly knew so little about.

Thanks for sharing Hank. I really love hearing these stories of past greats. Your grandfather was truly one of the best.

Thanks for the stories. Very interesting about the teams missing out on signing Walter. You would think that someone that talented couldn’t possibly be over looked.

Thank You, Hank - that was very enjoyable.

It was cool to hear two players mentioned that have connections local to me:

Cliff Blankenship, the injured catcher send to sign Milan and ultimately got Walter too, was the first Major Leaguer born here in Columbus.

Hank Gowdy, who famously stepped on his mask, has a ball-field on Fort Benning named after him.

Though I read your wonderful book cover-to-cover, I'm sure I'll read it again someday and enjoy it againn.

Here's what I call my 'Double-Walter' which Leon used to own:

1923 WG7 Walter Mails Game- WALTER JOHNSON SGC 80.jpg

Thanks, Robbie, and what an amazing card. Leon probably pulled it directly from the card game box! What's the "double-Walter" all about?

Walter Mails Game Card of Walter Johnson

I also have the Walter Mails Game Card of Walter Mails (another 'double-Walter') but that seems almost redundant. LOL

Wonderful interview, Hank! Having just finished re-reading Sam Rice's bio, re-reading your bio of Walter is my next pleasure.

Loved the interview. I am a big fan and living just a few blocks
from the Hall of Fame, I am able to visit the Big Train’s plaque and
memorabilia frequently.

And I still appreciate the signed book and friendship at the National 5 yrs ago. It was when my collection was up for sale. You and several friends were very supportive.
