Default 62 CDN Post cereal Willie Mays?

I was just snooping on TCDB (Trading Card Database) and thought I'd check out the 62 CDN Post cereal cards when I noticed 2 different variations of the #142 card of Willie Mays.

While looking I noticed a "Big Head" variation photo zoomed in and another "Small Head" photo zoomed out variation, only the Small Head variation didn't have a picture/scan.

I then decided to check my copy and discovered I likely have the "Small Head" variation, or what I assume is the small head variation, as more of Willies hands, arms, shoulders and back/number are shown on mine compared to the "Big Head" variation.

I submitted a pic/scan of mine and I am currently awaiting approval to see if it is acceptable/legit or not, but out of curiosity, does anyone know how rare this "Small Head" copy might be?

(Card number #142, pg 15 if link does not show up as such)
https://www.tradingcarddb.com/Galler...n?PageIndex=15

Thanks in advance. If nothing comes of this particular card I am hopeful I was at least able to provide a scan of the "Small Head" variation they were lacking.

It looks like they added my card already, which now confirms it's a legit copy, "Small Head" variation, so I am glad I was able to help out.
I just submitted a reverse scan of it as well so they can now complete that part of it too.

All four visible on COMC are the small head variety as well. The big head on the website seems to have a white back. Was there a send-away version of this card?

Probably a different flavor of cereal, my 1962 Post Canadian Ed Bouchee has a white back from a different type of cereal box than all of the other Cubs in the set.

I assumed, due to a lack of a photo, that the small head Mays was a relatively rare/tough card to find but once they posted my pic I was able to check out EBay listings and noticed many existed.

Not sure why they just didn't copy one of those but then again, maybe some legalities arise when doing that?

I was born in 64, John, so I can't answer your question about sending away for these but I don't think that was the case?
Many came on/inside different cereal boxes so that is why there are back color variations. IIRC, I think I read where there are 3 different colors of backs, Gray, White and brownish/off white?

The white back versions, at least with the Mantle, are the rarest of the ones out there. I forget about factotum but think they were in Grape Nuts or something like that.

The big head and small head are confusing. A better way to tell - if it says in the French biography "Residence New Rochelle NY", that is the common version. If it says in the French biography "a' New Rochelle NY", that is the rare version.

Irv is correct. Mays is on 2 different boxes, Sugar Crisp, Where the French biography reads Residence and on Grape Nuts, where the French biography reads 'a' instead of Residence. Also, the Sugar Crisp card will have perforations and the small head. The Grape Nuts card will have the large head and a white back. Bouchee is on Grape Nuts and has a white back. It should be noted that all of the Grape Nuts cards are rather difficult to obtain. Another example of the Residence is on the Frank Lary cards. (Bran Flakes reads Residence, Grape Nuts reads 'a' instead of Residence)
