I thought some of the members might be interested in what
was selling this past W/E at the Philly Show. This list
gives you a flavor of the sales that occurred at my booth.

A & G Comiskey and "Buffalo Bill" Cody

N162 Andrews (to a serious Phillies collector)

N162 Isaac Murphy & Garrison (serious horse racing fan)

Several more N162 Champs

55 - T206 cards from my $5 - $15 Tobacco card box

12 - C46 Canadian T-cards

1933 Goudeys - O'Doul and Gehringer (Autographed)

Geo. Weiss & Ed Barrow Autographed 1930's Docs.

1948 Bowman BasketBall near set (w/Mikan)

1949 Bowman set (missing Doby & 5 Hi#s). Set is
Ex to ExMt with Paige Nr Mt & perfect centering.

And, of course many Phillies' cards (1920's - 1952)
and an eclectic group of other cards that are less
significant than the above.

Network 54 Forum members that I met (or previously
knew) that were at my booth:

Tim Newcomb
Alan (Jewish Collector)
Dan McKee
Paul (Buffalo, NY)
Lyle Jobe (Ty Cobb Fan)
Mike Peich
Scott Ingold
John (from NY)
Nick (from NJ)
At least two other members who I do not recall
their names.....what can I say....I am 66 and
getting older.

In the spirit of Ted Z's post, here's what I found last weekend at Fort Washington:

-E97 Keeler, Cy Young, and Earl Moore
-E92 Dockman Crawford
-E92 McGraw (gorgeous, from Dan McKee)
-E90-2 Dots Miller
-E90-1 Tommy Leach throwing
-T206 Keeler batting with amazingly sharp color
-a bunch of tough M101-5s including the uncataloged #12 Beals Becker!
-several W753 St Louis Browns issue
-a couple of C46 including Jack Dunn (from Ted)
-4 offgrade T210s
-M116 Overall

Sorry I didn't meet more of the attendees-- but it was terrific to see Ted, Dan, Rose and Tony Carrafiel, Ron and Sheila Barrett, Gary Nuchereno, and my greatest friend, Mike Peich.

Would anyone else care to share?

Tim

I was there Friday night. Fantastic show !!! It was truly a pleasure meeting & speaking to Ted Z. !!! Each show seems to be better than the last one. A lot of dealers were there that had not been there in a while !!! Also, a pleasure to have met Dan McKee. Some of the auction houses were there including Mastro, Scott/Huggins, etc,... Again, it was a fantastic show !!! I have heard (even though there are less dealers) that it has as good, if not better, vintage material than there is at the national !!!

Thanks for sharing your experiences at the Philly Show with
us. You exactly caught the "spirit" of this posting. I think
most of us enjoy exchanging stories of our purchases (or our
sales). And, thanks Tim for your nice comments.

Alan

We had some interesting stories between us: it was fun.

James

Sorry guy, I only set-up at the 4 - Philly Shows and at the
HOF weekend in Cooperstown. You'll have to travel to Philly;
the next one is Dec 2 - 4th. I usually fill my Tobacco card
box with about 100 T-type cards. Most are T206's; but, also
some T205's and T207's.

I forgot to note on the above list two very important
cards....1933 Goudey and a 1940 PlayBall Moe Berg cards.
At every Philly Show there are at least 5 or 6 requests
for this fascinating man's BB cards. I always try to go
to the show with at least a couple of his cards in stock.

LYLE

It was great meeting you and talking Yankees talk.

And, I am glad you really enjoyed my VCBC article on the
1888 (or perhaps 1889) GOODWIN CHAMPIONS (N162 set).

I have received numerous positive comments on it. I do
not claim to be an expert on these cards; however, after
putting together 3.5 sets over the years, I think I can
say I know a lot about them. As my article shows, I did
do quite a bit of research into the players portayed in
this set. Additionally, having the Album (A36) that the
Goodwin Co. beautifully produced to depict all 50 cards
gives me a greater appreciation for this set.
