Default New Acquisitions Thread.

Finally got my last 67 Bobby Orr card. Card #92 that arrived today.

Curious on members thoughts? Should we have a monthly new pick ups thread or just run with a New Acquisitions Thread like Adam had in the old section?

I vouch for a New Acquisitions thread, but the majority rules.

Anyways, pumped to have acquired this card.

Might as well keep it in this thread. No need to keep posting a monthly thread. Traffic in our section is not high enough to keep making new threads for pick ups.

Nice Dale, with the Orr rookie long since leaving the dock, the "67" is a great card of Bobby. As I always said, Orr was Jordan before there was a Jordan! Enjoy that card Sir.

Beautiful. I have a Beliveau from that year in transit, so many legends in that set!

That's a sharp 7! If it weren't for the left edge, it makes you wonder what it would get. The two 10s on Heritage are well off-centered. I'm surprised PSA was so "friendly" with their assessments.

That card is absolutely beautiful. It's so nice to see that it dodged the card doctors. One of the reasons I like OPC hockey cards is that "rough cut" look.

Congratulations on a great pickup.

Thanks!

Bobby Orr was definitely special, and I haven't entirely given up acquiring his RC just yet.

Beautiful looking Gretzky.

Congrats!
Will post the Beliveau, I have an Orr Calder, but would love a rookie(sighs)....one day maybe. If i had the funds i would have the Trinity of t Hockey's greats in rookie form HOWE, ORR and GRETZKY (in no particular order as each has many reasons to be the greatest and all played in different times.)..We can all have dreams!

This was posted by Eric72 in another thread.
Hope this helps.

1. Here's how to post a picture with a computer running Windows:
2. Start a post (either your own or by quoting someone else’s post)
3. Scroll down to (and then click on) “Manage Attachments”
4. Click on “Choose File”
5. Find and select your picture (you’re searching in your own computer files
at this point) and click “Open” or “Insert”
6. Now you’re back in the Net54 software. Click “Upload”
7. Click “Close this window”
8. Click “Submit Reply”

Please note - the software only allows files up to a certain size. If your image is too high-res, try resizing it to somewhere around 1.5 MB.

As far as Cale Makar goes, I gave up trying to buy one of his YG's as I always got outbid so I ended up purchasing this signed and numbered Stature card instead.

  1. Thanks for posting the instructions. I hope they help everyone. Pictures of the game and the hobby are AWESOME. The more, the merrier.
  2. That card looks amazing. It makes me want to pick up some modern material. If only I had an unlimited budget.)

I picked this up for a song a couple weeks ago. It took USPS a couple weeks to deliver it; however, it arrived today.

awesome makar! really like that. like eric, i have not really waded much into the modern stuff. got a couple of YGs like point, makar and hughes. but mostly sticking to the 70s/80s.

do those instructions work for a mac as well? i'm literally the worst with computers, lucky i know how to turn it on and off.

I have no experience with Mac; however, believe the process would be similar. If you try these steps on your Mac, please let us know how it goes.

I only dabble in modern a bit myself, and like you, most of my hockey cards are 70's/80's. I did, however, just receive my second copy of Ty Dellandrea's YG's card but in the French version this time. He is a co-workers/friends nephew, plus I have seen him play, so I know he has potential. 13th overall first round selection of The Dallas Stars.

LOL on being computer illiterate. I might be about 10% better than you but I still can't help you with your question. Try and see I guess, or maybe Eric knows for sure?

those french cards are fantastic. the only ones i have are from a french/english set around 1990 (i think it was score, but can't remember...they are in my basement somewhere).

i like ty's game, have seen him play a few times and agree, he's headed for a nice future.

each time my workplace changes something minor regarding my computer, it causes me all kinds of problems. i suck at computers but i own that suck...no reason to deny it.

I hope so, and I want all the new players to do well, but since Ty is pretty much a local boy to me and a friends nephew, I am especially pulling for him. He, like a lot of them, are playing over in Europe right now due to the less restrictive covid protocols.

Although Ty won't be playing, I am looking forward, once again, to the World Juniors starting Dec 26th. I need a fix of hockey bad!

New arrival today. A 76-77 Bryan Trottier OPC RC. This card is hard to find centered and although this one isn't perfect, it's the best one I could find for a decent price. Upper right corner ding but overall not a bad card, imo,

I love the look of cards from this era. In a way, I’m glad they haven’t spiked in price the way other sports cards have. Gives collectors the opportunity to just...you know...collect.

Well, some 10's sure are spiking, and likely like you, I am totally surprised/shocked to see some of these prices.

To say hockey is getting hot is an understatement!

Default Mail Day...part 1

I picked up a few cards on eBay over the last month. Now that the USPS logjam has cleared a bit, the cards have begun to arrive.

I picked up these 1951-52 Parkhurst Montreal Canadien cards including HOF rookie cards Butch Bouchard and Tom Johnson (pictured on top).
