Default Help Valuing a Book of Autos

Won this lot on an impulse buy from Lelands. Its a really cool book about each Hall of Fame member from the Sporting News and it has 42 different HOF autographs in it, with an LOA and tickets from auto shows. I love books about the Hall of Fame, but its pretty bulky, and I feel like I might damage it, looking through it, so I am considering selling it.

I know very little about autograph collecting.

I suppose the answer to the question of "what it is worth" is what I just paid for it. But for sh*ts and giggles, I tried to come up with a value for it.

I went on PSA's Auto website and looked up each of the 42 players that signed the book, and tried to conservatively estimate the value (mostly equating the autos to a HOF plaque, rather than a picture, since autos on pictures tend to be more valuable.

Below are the results of my conservative estimate, which totals to $1,095.
I would imagine you'd need to heavily discount that to get to a value of the book as no one is going to value all of the autos. But I was wondering if I was on the right track? Any help would be much appreciated!

I think you're on the right track. The signed book is worth less than the sum of the parts. Since once they're cracked out of the book, they're all effectively uncertified again, it's probably best to leave it intact. Maybe $600-800 as a book?

Thank you. I understand what you mean about how the LOA is for the autos in the book, and once you remove them, they basically lose their value.

I think your estimate is very reasonable.
