How carefully we need to look at slabbed cards for this and other reasons these days!

So, does the serial number pop for another card? Now we have to watch out for fake PSA holders to?

The serial number points to a real Wagner card.

https://www.psacard.com/cert/05074722/

Looks like the label was reproduced using a legit serial number.

I have a good feeling that the winner is going to try to flip it as real. Happens with fake graded coins all the time.

Actually I was wrong and you guys were right. The card should say PSA in small print at the top on the front. This card had 50 bids and went for $287 on ebay.

Can't keep up with the Reprint T206 Wagners! This guy isn't the most pleasant guy to deal with if you message him.

It looks to me that the label is using PSA's registered trademark. So, either PSA authorized the use of its trademark (I certainly hope not) or PSA could seek to enforce its rights against the counterfeit goods (not the card, the counterfeit use of its trademark). Just my unpaid-for legal analysis.

And, if PSA doesn't seek to enforce its rights then its trademark will lose its value and at some point PSA may not be able to prevent others from using it. So, if PSA doesn't seek to enforce its rights then perhaps we can assume that either 1) the use was authorized, or 2) PSA is no longer interested in protecting its trademark. Someone who submits cards to PSA (not me) should be interested in neither being the case (either PSA is allowing its name to be used with a fake card or PSA's brand is so weak that anyone can insert a flip using PSA's trademark and so your graded cards won't be able necessarily to be linked to the "real" PSA). So, someone should bring this to their attention and let's await the lawsuit.

I like that after paying 25k for this one that I still have to pay an additional $3.90 to ship it

You should send another offer of $2, with a note of how you'd be overpaying now (but are feeling generous)

Based on his description it must be real

"Honus Wagner (Sweet Caporal Cigarettes). The 1909-11 T206
Condition is Acceptable.
Honus Wagner T-209 (Sweet Caporal cigarettes). I’ll be honest, I have no idea if this is a reprint or an original. I personally am not sure how to get this graded and I don’t want to bother with it -so hopefully whoever does buy this, would like to get that done.
It has never been taken out of the case. It was passed down from my grandpa to my dad and now I have it. My grandpa was a pretty good card collector too.
Again, I do not know if this is a reprint or an original, however, my grandpa has never had any reprints thus far. He was a very serious baseball card collector. We sold many of his base ball cards and found they were all original baseball cards - including from 1901, 1902, 1910 T-206 baseball cards.
Again, original or a reprint baseball card, but I’m seeking out to just sell it to another card collector so they can possibly keep it for many more generations to come."

He says he can't be bothered to grade it, but then goes on to say it's the most valuable baseball card in the hobby. Yeah, real believable.

The only other baseball card he has sold in the last year? Another Honus Wagner. His grandpa was the MAN!

I was looking at the bidding. It almost looks like 3 different shill bidders were bidding against each other. They should each get one!
