While I love the favorite cards that are worth thousands of dollars...how about a favorite card for the poor man?

What a sparkling set of choppers on Wild Bill.

My favorite beater. Scary card, scary holder.

I'm going to have to request a pass because it's not pre-war, but I have to go with this one because I still remember the thrill I felt when I found it for sale at a card shop nearly 20 years ago to complete my set.

This one is still heartbreaking for me. Look at the corners on it! I thought for sure it would be coming back a 7 or 8 but alas, it must have some heartbreaking invisible defect like a crummy paper wrinkle or something. Bah!

I considered myself very lucky to win this one on Ebay a few months back for under $200. I think some Obak/PCL heavyweights must have been sleeping through the auction.

Love the suit and hat on this Obak!

Not sure what it is worth, but probably in that range. Love this card. Sorry it is not pre-war.

Leon,

Is that an UNC or does it have a designation? Never seen one before.

To the best of my knowledge there are only about 6 of these known.....and they are Unc....another card where the rarity doesn't meet the value, imo.....

That Mohler card is outright scary! It's as if Edvard Munch painted a portrait of William Burroughs!

Great card of King Carl, Scot. The only known image of him posing with his customary pre-game snack -- an enormous waffle.

Scot - love the look of that Hubbell. Have to get me one of those.
Until then this might be my favorite. My first T206 card and also
the answer to my "go-to" trivia question as a kid.

Right now it's a five-way tie. The end goal is for this to become a thirteen-way tie.

If anyone has any of the missing Toronto players in comparable condition for sale, I'd love to hear from you!

Regards,

Richard.

This would sell for around $200, but I wouldn't let it go for twice that.

I think this is my favorite under $200 card. What I like about it is that people were supposed to send them in. I also have seen versions of this card without the 2 white arrows that point to the ball. I wonder why there are some with the arrows and some without?

Edited to add: Compare mine above (with arrows) with the one below I just copied the scan of from ebay (note no arrows):

Why would they have taken the time to either add or remove arrows? I wonder if one has a premium attached to it or not?

Bob, don't know if anybody responded to you in regard to the 1915 CJ Mitchell but he one of the few players only found in the 1915 set (not 1914), excluding the guys #ed 145-176. In the 1914 set #62 is Jay Cashion, so that may be why the picture looks new.

Anyway here is one of my favorite sub-$200 card...Who were the "Boston Browns" anyways? They would later correct the card to the Boston Braves.

Leon, your Donovan made me want to post this one (definately a scary dude), but this one is worth a bit more than $200...

-Rhett
