Default T205 Size Variance

I have been working on the T205 set for a few months now, and am learning quite a bit along the way.

I have focussed on buying graded cards, but recently picked one up online, and when it arrived, it looks strongly like it was trimmed, though carrying a clean PSA 4 grade. It is significantly smaller than the case, or others like it. Measured against other cards, it is about .3cm smaller horizontally.

I assume there was some variance in cards back then, but is this within reason?

Also, how common is it for one of the major grading services to miss something that appears quite obvious? Would you be more likely to just accept its legitimacy?

I have about 20 different sizes throughout my T206 and T205 sets. Sets were assembled in the 1970s before people were trimming for greed. They are not trimmed, sizes vary plenty.

You are fairly safe buying the graded cards as they will look at the edges but I can't sit here and tell you that all graded cards are not trimmed.

T205 is a great set! Have fun!

As Dan says, and I will reiterate, T205s can come in many different sizes. It's a great looking set and one I have always put at, or near, the top in aesthetics. And Dan was being nice, I think all of the grading companies miss some trimmed cards. IF you see one that looks trimmed, it could be. The graders are human.

I mentioned to Centauri offline that American Beauty T205s are narrower than other backs. This is the way they were issued. Would anyone mind sharing their perspective and experience on the topic?
Thanks,
Cory
