Default my first Cy Young card

okay - I know this is straying A LOT from my collecting goals, but I've been sad to not have a "filler" card of Mr. Cy Young. I know I'll be waiting a long while (forever?) for an 1890-92 Ryder Studio Cabinet, an 1890 Rogers Studio Cabinet or an 1893 Just So Tobacco.

Until then, this will simply have to do:

Wow! I would hope that card would do in anyone's collection

Great pickup, Derek...congrats!

Picked this one up off BST from rman (thanks Richard, btw- looks like 2nd card arrived safe and sound). I'm finding I like going after lower cost alternatives of the higher cost cards which share image/pose/etc.
Thanks Ian. That is a great looking pose of the Iron Horse. I love the 1920's exhibits.

I know - I threw up a little in my mouth when I found out I was the high bidder. But I can't complain. It's one of my favorite card images (love the portraits) and I've never owned a contemporary Young. I don't know if I've ever owned a card w/ such perfect centering. Old Cy also happens to be the only HOFer missing from my Helmar Stamps set as well...hint, hint to anyone wanting to sell/trade!

Finally last night won this long-sought Ellam--one of the most unique looking t206s, because he looks like he's about 12--and sort of like me at that age (doing what I was always doing then). And an Old Mill. So I am thrilled.

Added 2 more to my T210 collection yesterday. Series 2 Clunk and a Series 3 Gear thanks to a fellow board member. Here is a before and after pick of the rescued Clunk card.

Nice Speaker Jack, a classic pose.

March is ending well for me with a nice T210 OB pickup finalized today and a few other pickups. Im hoping to find something on my want list at next weeks Chantilly Show and start April off in style.

Jason - Nice! You are getting close on the OB subset. How many are you up to now?

Congrats, J

Ended up going to a local show today and searched around but really not as much there well priced, at least worth buying. I did happen to come back with two pieces for collection. Im happy plus I had my 34 Gehringer sent in for a PSA crossover.

First pickup was this 1909-11 E90-1 Hal Chase SGC 20/1.5

Second and most excited pickup for the day was thr 1934 Goudey Ki Ki Cuyler PSA 5 for my 34 Goudey Set.

Default 34 G high numbers/ Jackie

Kamikid

I concur with the 34G comments.
I really like the red panels w/Chuck Klein on the high numbers, just something unique looking on those, and the Cuyler to me is the coolest of them all.
Of course my next "whale" card will come from that set, as the classic Gehrig portrait needs to be in my collection!

So in the meantime, here's one I've looked for just the right price/eye appeal for my budget for quite awhile:

Default Wide Pens Type 2 ( No ''Litho In USA'' ) 1936 R314

...1935/1936/1937 Goudey Premiums.......staple holes in top border of the Whitehill but that's okay for now , just glad to have it......the Foxx is clean but the corners are worn down ; again , that's okay --..... these type 2's are difficult compared to the 1's and 4's. Upgrading is always fun though , because even a completed set is never truly ''completed''...... OCD is the most fun mental condition ever discovered.

Not anyone's favorite HOFer, but my first for Jake and great centering. Did knock out 2930 hits in deadball era.

But he did sport the popped collar 100 years before the old pharts in Cape Cod caught on to the look.
