Default What grade do you think this Kaline RC will get?

Hello all,

I'm going to send this Kaline RC in to PSA, but I wanted to get everyone's opinion on it first. On first glance, it appears to be a PSA 5 or possibly even a 6. There are no creases/wrinkles, the centering is very nice, and the corners are decent. However, take a look at the front, bottom/center of the card. There's a small piece of the card that is torn on the card, but yet it is still partially connected. The piece that's torn is still completely present so there's no paper loss. Would love to get some opinions on this. Thanks in advance!
Travis

Dawg,

I'm going with a grade of a 1 or 2. That paper tear is going to be costly.

PSA 1. I've never seen a torn card grade higher

A 1 in a grade, but a 10 in my heart.

I'll go with a 2. I have had some card that were slightly torn get 2s from PSA in my T51 college set.

Yep, a 1 or a 2. I wouldn't grade it. Nice card.

Easy 6 all day long without the tear maybe 6.5.
With the tear a 1.5 at best.

To me this would be an example of where grading it would hurt the value (just my opinion), which is great for a guy like me who buys. I would pay "4" money for that raw, only the 1.5 or 2 value if graded regardless of how clean it looks.

That is an awesome card, and I would replace mine with that card in a heartbeat, and mine was popped from a 4 BVG I bought a couple years ago. Awesome card...

Thanks for the input everyone. Such a shame a nice card like this has that defect. Oh well!

One last thing I wanted to make clear...the tear does not go all the way through to the back of the card. It is only a small piece on the front as thin as paper. You can see from the back scan that the back of the card is completely intact. Does this make any difference at all?

In my experience it's very true. I detest grading for numerous reasons but did submit some that I was selling. Decided to send in about a dozen more through a dealer friend who submits 400-500 at a time. I was amazed at the grades I recieved compared to the 10 card submission I sent myself. Too subjective! Keep em pure I say!

Default Great eye appeal

The top left looks like it has a stain. Along with the tear I would say 1maybe 2

Ouch, that paper loss on the Mantle makes me cringe. I guess I'll trade it for my Kaline RC if I have to. : )

Looks like a card that battlefield would buy, photoshop out the tear, then advertise as NM.
