Default Photos used for cards

I've always liked vintage photos that are used for cards. However I only have one, Arndt Jorgens used for his 1934 Goudey #72. I'm lucky that mine has a certified autograph.

Anyone else have any photos they would like to share?

Robin Pauls has a terrific site for the 1962 Post Cereal Football set. Here is a link to the Production photos used for the cards:

Cool photo, and very similar pose, but probably not the exact photo used for the card. Here is a link to an outstanding long running thread (11 years!) about this topic:

I have a question which I am asking respectfully in regard to the original post (not trying to be a wise-ass).

Does something qualifying as "a photo used for a card" have to maintain the exact pose on the card as on the photo or does it just have to be close enough to assume that it was the photo used. Is there a difference between "a photo used for a card" and "a photo that was the basis for a card".

The photo and the card have a clear resemblance but there are some key differences (such as how far back his head is tilted and the angle the mask is being held at).

[Edited to add: I wrote this and posted it before seeing Brian's comments.]

I really enjoyed reading about the process for the cereal football set, good read and can't believe all the manual steps involved in the process - thanks!

Also, regarding the photo used for the card - I'm in no way an expert in that area. Yes, I did realize there are differences in the photo and the card. Not a lot, but some. Since the image used on the 1934 Goudey was a painted image, I just assumed they probably used this particular photo as a model for the art. After several hours of research on this particular photo and the Goudey, I couldn't find any other photos that were even close. I could definitely be wrong and happy to admit that.

I'll check the previous thread out - thanks for the information! I'm a new member so I guess before I post a thread I should check for previous ones.

No harm, no foul. I welcome new threads, and I had no intention to stop others from posting, but that one I linked is not on the main forum (it is in the Memorabilia section), and it took me about 9 or 10 years to discover its existence. So I like to share it for others that, like me, don't/rarely venture over to the memorabilia side so that they can discover it too. Please post away folks.

As far as your photo, it was probably taken in the same photo session as the one that was used for the Goudey card. Such a fun, unique pose!

I am of the thinking that photos made into cards need to be exact. As has been said, in photo sessions, many might have been taken that resemble the one...but there is one.
