Default Identifying A Hand-Cut Larry Doby Item Possibly from 1957

Quick appeal to the Net54 Community. I am a Larry Doby Collector and came across this recently. I don't think this a new hobby find and am skeptical about it in general but couldn't figure out what it was. Its a small hand-cut panel on cardboard that references the 1956 season in the past tense so it appears to be from 1957.

I would guess it was cut out of some type of vintage display or advertisement or something (recently) and offered for sale without context intentionally.

Anyone see this before somewhere or have any idea what it is?

The seller stated he got it in a lot with similar panels for Hoyt Wilhelm, Jackie Jensen and Hank Aaron.

Any info appreciated!

It looks similar to the Sporting News Baseball Panels published in the 1950s to 1970s. It was probably cut out and pasted to a piece of cardboard. But I’m sure someone else on this Board would have a better idea.

Default Best guess

A period magazine or guide piece on paper cut out and glued to cardboard. I would wager there is writing on the reverse but can’t tell….. maybe use a really bright light on the back to see if anything looks like that???

Default Thanks so Much!

Thanks All! Once again the collective wisdom of the Net54 Hivemind does not fail to impress! You guys were all spot on and fast in figuring this one out. And bobw, pulling up the 1957 Dell's Who Who on demand for this thing was dope!

As soon as I took it out of the rigid holder I could see were the lighter top layer was glued on to the cardboard. It looks pretty cool - I could see Panini Et al. doing something similar one day when they run out of new vintage reissue ideas.

I advised the seller who has some others for sale and returned it. Case closed.
