Default Johnny Vander Meer's record

Here's an interesting trivia question I stumbled upon. After Johnny tossed his 2 consecutive no hitters, one of his teammates came within 2 outs of doing the same thing, with Johnny in the ballpark. Who was he?

Yes. I'm reading Red Barber's book about the 1947 season and he mentioned it. With one out in the ninth, Stanky hit a grounder back through the box and Ewell, who was a pretty tall fellow, didn't quite get his glove down low enough to stop it.

Virgil Trucks went 5-20 in 1952 with 2 no-hitters, though they weren't in a row.

Max Scherzer came very close to two consecutive perfect games.

Dave Stieb pitched back to back one hitters in 1988. He lost both with 2 outs in the 9th!

The bottom ticket is from the following year when he lost a Perfect Game with 2 out in the 9th!
