I chose green because I like the portrait combined with the more esthetically pleasing and tougher green background which is unique unlike the red background which is dp and present in other sets as well.

I love the bat off version for the same reason, Nelson. Love the background sky. I may also be biased as it is the only Cobb that I own!!

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.

I chose the red because I just find it to be the most aesthetically pleasing. The red and bat off are both in my top 5 favorite T206s though.

For me it's Bat Off #1 and Green #2. Don't really care for the Bat On or Reds.

For me the bat off is my favorite card in the entire set, because it is Cobb and because of the coloring that you mentioned.

It's a tough call for me between the bat on and red port but I went for the bat on. I like all four but for the bat off comes in last for me.

Lol, to me the bat on pose just doesn't look like him at all, I've always struggled with that when presented the opportunity to add one to my Cobb collection. The other 3 look like him, but that bat on card....not so much. I think they could have just left that pose out of the mix all together.

The bat on is not getting much love, but I like it. It's got the Cobb attitude.

I am one of the few that picked bat on. I'm not big on portrait cards of anyone, so those two were easily eliminated and I think the bat off just doesn't look right to me, colors are off in the background. I like the pose better but the background kills it. Another similar player is Lajoie, I like the throwing pose, but I think the other two would definitely get more votes

Dang, I didn't know I was related to Ty Cobb. I just knew him as Aunt Pearl.

I vote green. Just looks the most realistic, like a photograph. I've always liked the ones that look more like a photo than overly artistic.

I'd have to go bat off. It was my first pre war HOF card and remains sentimental to me.

That suggests that Cobb at some point didn't look intense. I think he was born with a look of steely determination. He probably frightened the doctor delivering him.

I wonder if his baby shoes had spikes.

This used to be an easy one for me (green portrait), but since then I've owned a few 'bat off's with perfect registration - it's the best of the 'soft focus' lithographs in the set, in my opinion.

Still, I went green.

(this forum is like a group of angels compared to the autographs )

Default Cobbs

For me, here's my ordering:

Bat off

Green port

Red port

Bat on

It appears my preferences follow the polling stats. Guess that makes me 'normal'.
