Quick question about Gold Medal Foods cards
Are these on thinner card stock (like Wide Pens), or more like Exhibits? I've never actually seen one up close, and am sort of interested in this issue.

They are thicker. Definitely not like the wide pens.

the R313A cards thickness is far closer to a R314 than an Exhibit, just ever so slightly thicker than the R314s. Exhibits are on much thicker sturdier stock.

Searching for those Gold Medals.....
Welcome to the hunt............ they are sometimes found in the most unlikely places , and can be quite valuable even in the lower grades ; for example Joe Orlando has offered me ten grand for the one on the right . |

What the smart Frank said...
I have one. It's like thick photo paper. It's paper, though... nowhere near as thick as an Exhibit card. I think Joe's wanting the slab... if you busted that out he wouldn't pay you 10% of that. Last edited by FrankWakefield; 03-24-2012 at 12:17 PM. |

It was a Gold Medal card of Medwick, in an SGC holder, with the slip misidentifying the card as a wide pen, I think. That SGC holder was to the right, on the left of the image was a Gold Medal card of Medwick in a PSA holder, correctly identified.

I see it now, thanks for reposting
I was thinking maybe it was a new discovery.... one of those 1933-34 Wheaties showing Ruth or something.... |
