Default T212 Obak Reprints?

Anyone come across T212 reprints? I'm contemplating collecting the set and wonder if anyone has come across counterfeits? There are so many raw cards out there I wonder if I have to beware... I can't imagine someone would go through the effort to reproduce obscure minor leaguers with little value? Thoughts??

Love me some Obaks. I can’t confirm that there aren’t reprints, but I can say I’ve never seen any. I’ve found that Obaks tend to fall in with Zeenuts in that a lot of collectors are raw collectors so fewer get graded than other issues. My guess is the cards you’re seeing are legit, but feel free to post specific scans if you have doubts.

If there is an original card set there is probably a reprint, authorized or not.

From an original collection to me, to another collector and then back to me.

I have not seen any reprints. I am not going to start worrying about them until I start seeing some good T206 reprints. I figure the problem will come to T206s before they come to Obaks and I haven't seen a good T206 reprint yet.

Hopefully this post doesn't foreshadow some excellent T206 reprints.

This is also a good point. If someone is going to the trouble to fake tobacco cards, it’s gonna be T206 Cobbs, not a bunch of PCL no-names.

Nah, could never happen.

Remember our friend Larry?

And I am not implying I have seen fake T212s. But I am confident, and experience teaches me, there are some out here.

There probably are, but what would worry me is good reprints and I don't think there are any of those out there.
