Default T205 Hoblitzell - No Stats & More

With STRONG encouragement from my wife, I FINALLY landed MY "White Whale" - the T205 Hoblitzell - No Stats, paying roughly TWICE what my folks paid for their home!

God Rest Their Souls - they would NOT have approved!

Anyway, my wife asked me WHY is that card so rare.

All I could say was "Uhhhh, because...."

After all these years, is there a BETTER answer than that????

In addition, I'm looking for a T205 Hoblitzell - "One L" with a basic Piedmont 25 reverse. Does THAT card exist???

Good for you. It’s my last card for a complete T205 master set.

I don't know that much about T205s but I don't think the one L exists in a
Piedmont back. And congrats on the no stats.

Me too. I imagine there's quite a few of us in that club.

Hey Greg,
Congrats on the Hobby-no stats. The simple answer to your wife's question is that it was printed only with the Hassan 30 reverse. As for the one "L" variant, I don't recollect seeing it with any back other than the Sweet Caporal red. Others are far more knowledgeable on T205 than I and may have better information. I'm pretty sure you won't find it with a Piedmont 25 reverse. Happy Hunting!

+1, for a card that one would be content with just having, you sure got a purty one

Very nice card!!!
As a master set acquiring wannabe, I may have given up on that card.
I was thinking I could make my own no stats version with some strategic paper added or a Moran with stray line with another after market accessory.

Then I thought, hey maybe I should just buy one? A real one!
Then I soon realized that ain’t easy in so many ways.

I’m happy for you, that’s absolutely a whale card for T205 fiends. Nice job!

Hey All - I appreciate the congrats, but all it really took was the ability to scratch a check... (...and an approving Wife - Thanks, B!)

As for the known POP of Hoblitzell - No Stats, I'm guessing LESS THAN 50, based on the PSA & SGC pop reports and considering re-grades.

Anyone else got any ideas on this???

Eddie - what I DON'T understand about the Hobie is this - Hassan 30 backs are tougher, but why are their so few of this one card and NOT all the other Hassan 30s backs???

We may never know!

You can only scratch a check after you find one for sale. That's a significant accomplishment with this card.

Congrats on the Hobby no stats.

I looked for over 5 years for a Hassan 30 Al Bridwell. I think Hassan 30 backs are scarce if you go looking for a specific subject.

Huge congrats Greg. What a massive whale to catch. I hope you took some time to just hold it in the raw. It looks great.

To answer your question about the one L Hoblitzell. This card only exist with Sweet Caporal Red backs. If anyone has a scan of one with a different back please let me know.

Unfortunately, it WAS already slabbed! Too big of a purcha$e to buy it raw - for me!

But DON'T think that I am not tempted to crack it out and hold it!

My Wife agreed to have a GOOD bottle of Champagne while we opened the package!!!

CHEERS!

NEVER though about ALL HASSAN FACTORY 30 backs being tough! Now I will have to go through my set!

As if I needed a reason to....

Thanks for the thought...That COULD BE an (the?) reason why Hoblitzell - No Stats is so tough...not many Hassan FAC 30s made of anyone...

Any one got any other Hassan Fac 30s to show???
