Default Old AP photos, can anyone help me out with the "Type"

I picked up these Associated Press photos a while back and was wondering if someone can help me out with the "type". I've always been confused as to what is a Type 1, Type 2, etc.

They look like Type 1's with lots of press art shading for eventual newspaper use.
