Default Signed Rookie Cards

Hey Net54, I bet there are a lot of treasured signed rookie cards out there in your collection just waiting to be shown to the world. Let's see them! Here is one of mine, none other than the "Catfish" himself - Jim "Catfish" Hunter.

Currently my favorite

Dual signed vintage ballpoint

Pretty rare even though both were decent signers. As luck would have it Denehy wouldnt sign while seaver was signing, and Seaver didn't sign whole Denehy was. (Post playing days)

I love the Tony Gwynn! I did own a game used, autographed bat of his - but I sold it at auction.

Those of you that go across the street to PSA/CU may know that I have a Topps Cardinals autograph collection that I have been working on since 2007. I am about 95% complete. This post will be "Cardinals heavy". Here are some I dug up.

My autograph collecting is limited to 1960 to 1963 Fleer. I currently have 142 signed cards from those sets. This Maury Wills rookie card was the 5th card I acquired in this quest. I sent it in to a public signing at the 2012 Dodgerfest.

I agree, great Campanella card! His pre accident autographs are always so sweet, especially on the 49! Here is a picture of mine - but the tape is a killer - I wish it were signed!

Not his RC but better than his 63.
Has an early signature in ballpoint.

Favorite pre-1980 rookie autos

And my favorite signed rookie of all is the one I had signed as a TTM when I was in 8th grade.

Like my Straw too.

I don't know about everyone else, but I prefer autographs with an ink pen instead of a Sharpie. Thoughts?

On older cards with a period auto, I think pen looks fine. But on newer cards, I generally prefer blue sharpie.

I've just seen too many ink pen autos where the auto is light or has skipped.

Pete Runnels was my favorite Wash. Senator when I was a kid. I don't know if each of these signatures is authentic:

Nice cards!

Let's not limit this thread to baseball. Anyone have auto rookies from other sports? I don't have a lot, but I do have every card from George Taliaferro's career. George was the first black player drafted by an NFL team - the Los Angeles Dons. The Dons merged with the Rams after the 49 season.
