Default The Nun's Wagner

So our poster who has the Wagner would like to come back on the board. I think he wants to explain himself. I didn't want the other thread being able to be edited, for the moment, so this thread. And I am going to reinstate Andrew and we can take it from there....Not sure how else to accomplish letting him back and protecting the other thread's posts.

Clearly Photoshopped. Look at the slab. The corners are square. Come on!

I tend to agree that it looks photoshopped. Slab appears a bit larger than normal.

Even if it is photoshopped, this is a trade you are obviously going to do in person. If he doesn't have the card, he won't get yours.

I would encourage him to post a 5-10 second video with the card.

1) If he owns the card then what is the story behind it?

2) Why he is willing to sell it for $75,000 when the last sale, to the Dr. in Philadelphia, was for $220,000?

That's pretty cool how the slab sticks to his fingers like that without his fingers really touching the sides. Is he Spider-Man? But, like, TINY Spider-Man, since the slab is almost as big as his entire face.

I don't know what Heritage was thinking; nuns consigning a card is nowhere NEAR as interesting as Tiny Spider-Man consigning it.

Thread of the year yet??......

Gotta agree though, those corners are like perfect points on that slab

Give him some points on creativity though....

Look at the reflection in the back mirror...see anything? If he was indeed holding the card it would show up in the mirror in the background...

Hmmm! 3 bottles of lotion, a roll of paper towels, what appears to be some sort of gay porn-star on the tv, and the complete and total look of shame on his face.. I wonder what's going on there?

Edited to add: Damn, Peter. You beat me to it.. No pun intended.

Whenever you scan an SGC slab, there are certain glare marks around the edge of the holder from the scanner. If you blow up his pic and compare the Wagner he is holding to the Wagner in the original pics, the glare marks are identical.

The card holder edges--top, bottom and side to side--are perfectly parallel to the top, bottom and sides of the picture he submitted.
PERFECTLY PARALLEL. A PERFECT RECTANGLE.
I used the selection tool in photoshop (dotted line) to illustrate the point in this blow-up.

So the Wagner is absolutely flat in reference to the photographer's vantage point. That occurring naturally is as close to impossible as you can get.

I don't know the guy, so I lack a horse in this race, but he obviously held something (perhaps a graded card), took a picture and then superimposed a 'professional' scan of the Wagner in front of it.

I was hoping someone would post a picture of the "Topps" kid (kid on the topps wax cases I believe). holding up the card in a "wow" fashion and then superimpose the Wagner.

If it ever makes it to auction, there had darn well better be full transparency, not any of that whack-ass semi-transparency that litters eBay.

I'm willing to bet the real owner of that card has it sitting in a safety deposit box somewhere, and not in a house with minimalistic furniture and dirty socks on the floor.

How do you explain a (seemingly) wealthy gentleman showing that he won the same card in a Heritage auction, on Youtube, from a few years ago? He's got your card!!

Haven't you heard that TV adds 10 lbs? Andrew is clearly the very successful cardiologist with millions of dollars of memorabilia in a highly organized, and well-kept show room! The game worn Gehrig jersey is under the lotion.
