Is the owner of the album/cards wanting to remain private??

Edited to say-

I ask because I'd love to hear from him as well.

If the owner was able to successfully remove the T212-2 150 series cards, I'd be interested in them.

I'm not positive, but I assumed the owner ended up being Mark (Perezfan) who was the OP in the "Worthwhile/Worthless" thread.

He's a regular board member on the memorabilia board.

Dick-

I'm confused. Did you own the album or you removed cards for someone else and then bought this one?

"My company removed all the cards"

What a shame.....sorry to hear that.

I'm sure you did a great job, but it's a shame this piece of collecting history is now lost. IMO

What exactly is the history of cards stuck in an album?

Easy Jason there is plenty of T206 and T212 cards not stuck in albums to purchase. Seeing as there were no real high value cards by taking the cards out of the album you are destroying a window into the collecting past.

Lots of folks collected cards in this very manner including Jefferson Burdick. I think the value as it was far passes that of a bunch of easily obtained cards in plastic holders. Which short of the 150 Obaks can be bought on eBay any day of the week raw or slabbed.

Hope that explains my view better....

I did post the original "Worthwhile or Worthless" thread, but did NOT end up acquiring the Album. I had bought some early 1900s pennants from the seller/owner off ebay, and in subsequent email correspondence, they mentioned the Album to me.

I asked them about a price, and to send me some photos (which I posted here, on the above thread) My communications with the sellers halted rather abruptly, so I assumed they had received another offer from someone else. I never mentioned the sellers name (or any contact info) here on Net54, so I am not sure how the person in Florida even found out about it.

I agree with Wonka... The album was very cool (and historically significant) in its original state, and it would have been nice to keep it that way... a minority opinion, I know! Money is a driving force however, and am not at all surprised that it was broken up.

I can understand the sentiment to keeping the cards in the album, but I doubt I would do that myself.

I will say Dick it looks like you did quite a job on them though. Although, yet to see how you would do with laminated cards. happy.gif
