I am a novice at posting images, so I am pretty shocked this actually worked. Sorry the image is a little blurry. I am a Thorpe fan, and picked up the Thorpe Olympiska Spelens postcard. I was kinda shocked at the price, especially since it was a PWCC auction. I put in a max bid and was expecting to get sniped at the last second. Several snipes did come in, but my bid held up.

Default 1937-39 Orcajo Cincinnati Reds Postcards

...Just got the bottom one ; got the top one earlier this year ; most of the Orcajo Reds postcards are sponsored by '' Val Decker Meats''....there are a smaller number sponsored by '' Metropolitan Clothing''...the plain unadorned variety , no ad at all , is the one that gives OCD set completionistas a reason to get out of bed in the morning...

Thanks. I remember you picking up an identical postcard a few months back. Like I said, I was expecting to get sniped out of the running. Even a low-grade Thorpe 101-5 card would be out of my price range. I know postcards aren't everyone's thing, but it is amazing to me that Thorpe postcards predating the M101-5 sell for 10-30 percent of the M101-5 card.

The one I am kicking myself over is that there was a raw, postally used (postmarked from Carlisle, Pa., no less) "Olympic Heroes" Thorpe postcard on eBay that sold for $234 a couple weeks ago. I missed it until I saw it in the sold listings. The "Olympic Heroes" postcard touts Thorpe's return to Carlisle following the Olympics and pictures him putting the shot. I thought maybe someone on here scooped it up to flip because it went so cheap. But nothing ever turned up when I asked on the B/S/T board.

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Strive to be happy.

nice pickup! I was wondering who ended up buying that PC as I saw towards the end of the auction the seller added the BIN to the card

Default Philly Postcard

Very nice pick-up, Ken. I saw the auction about 5 hours after it was listed and originally placed a minimum bid of $2,250 which knocked out the Buy It Now option. When I did not receive a response from the seller about the restoration work done on it, I retracted my bid so the Buy It Now reappeared. That being said, if I did not already own a copy, I would have paid the $3K as you did.

made some nice progress on 1915 Cracker Jacks over last couple months: only need 7 more (including 4 HOFers though so not expecting to wrap thing up too soon yet), check out my BST thread for my needs, much appreciated.

I'm in love with this Fred Clarke, BTW....

Thanks, Mike. Yeah, Mr. Oakes is trying to leap out of the card. The glove extending into the border is found on all that I've seen. Pretty cool look.

My two newest Dockmans. Been eyeballing these for a while and finally decided to pull the trigger. The white specks on the batting variation are scuffs on the case, not the card

These were my two favorite pickups from the Cleveland National. There are not many cards can claim to have 4 of the greatest HOFers on the same card (Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Walter Johnson, Grover Alexander, Dave Bancroft, and Lee Meadows)...
