Default Mike Trout out for rest of the season

Mike Trout has another meniscus tear while trying to rehab from the surgery he had earlier this year and is now out for the rest of the year. Another lost season for him.

It feels like Humpty Dumpty. Truly a shame, generational talent and by all account a good person.

Who had Trout out yet again on their Bingo card????

There are not too many of these 'successful' returns left in this guys career to call it a success.

Not wishing bad on the player, but there comes a time where one just needs to go in another direction with their life.

I could be wrong but I think most or all of his injuries were suffered at bat or on the basepaths.

Possible for sure. Can't find any info on the Lastest injury. Seems to be Mike didn't know how it happened.

I doubt at this point Trout ends up anywhere close to 600 HR or 20 seasons.

If it's shades of Ken Griffey Jr. that may very well be ok. Today, Griffey remains as one of the most highly collected players of his era. Lots of folks still going after his cards.

Trout is still relatively young. Same age as Judge and has accomplished much more even with these injuries. Hopefully he can make a return and still add to his resume.

I’d say the opposite is most likely true. I seem to remember McGwire’s chronic back issues clearing up and him starting to regularly hit 500 foot HR’s around the same time he claimed to be dabbling in HGH.

I have to think he is mentally weak and just in it for the payday. At some point you have to play through injuries and he has never shown the ability to do that.

I don’t know. There are guys who miss games with a stiff neck and stuff but a torn meniscus is torn. I do hope he has some kind of resurgence after all this but the knees are hard to go over. I don’t know what Acuna will be like after another knee injury either.

Yeah, only a mentally weak greedy person misses time for a second torn meniscus. This is such an intelligent insight.

Then again, according to the New England Journal of Medicine:

Incidental meniscal findings are common in the general population and are often found on knee MRIs. These findings are not directly related to a patient's symptoms and become more common with age. A 2008 study found that 63% of people with knee pain, aching, or stiffness had incidental meniscal findings, while 60% of people without those symptoms also had them. The study also found that 61% of people with meniscal tears had not experienced any pain, aching, or stiffness in the previous month.

Didn't Djokovic finish second at Wimbeldon just a few weeks after meniscus surgery?

He tore it again after surgery. Are you saying your advice would be to keep playing on it?

Obviously I am in no position to advise him. My point, though, is that from the research it certainly seems possible that the meniscal tear is not causing his problems. His last injury was a calf muscle strain or tear (whose onset was not obvious as I recall) that was supposed to heal in weeks, yet it disabled him for months. I can't help but wonder if something else isn't going on?

Two of the most ridiculous takes I've read on this site on the same thread. Remarkable.
