Dan, I feel that your photo is Rube Schauer. Born Dimitri Ivanovich Dimitrihoff in Odessa Russia 1891. He was one of five native Russians to play in the Majors. This photo is from his final year with the A's in 1917 exiting with a 7-16 record for the year. He also played here in Wisconsin,earlier in his career, with Superior of the Northern League. |

Dimitri Dimitrihoff! A new name to add to my "Favorite Odd Baseball Names" list! Subtract the final syllable from his name and we would have had baseball's answer to Sirhan Sirhan (minus the mayhem!). |
