I don't collect Old Judge cards, but this one just doesn't look right. Can anyone tell us why this is fake? I seem to recall that Old Judge cards will crack instead of crease like this example. But that is all I can put to words. Fill us in, experts.

Brian

I think the picture is unusually clear, considering how much damage there is to the card otherwisre. That must be the commonest Old Judge there is!

The whiteness of the border around the top and the top right. The crease is definitely not right either. OJ's with that pronounced a crease usually have the paper broken through. While anything's possible, I definitely think it's a fake. So far, someone's willing to pay $66.00 to see if we're wrong.........

I am by no means an expert with OJ's...heck, it would even be a stretch to call me a novice, but I was suspicious of that Kelley card upon first sight of it...

This seller (twistedfan) is a chronic offender... he has put up numerous fake OJ HOFers over the past few months to go along with the ultra-modern dreck he peddles. Below is a reply I received from him back in October:

"Well That is not to fair of you accusing me of selling fake cards when you don't have then in hand. Just because they have writing on the back dose not
mean that they are fakes. I Have seen many old judge cards with stamps, writing and so on on the back for sale on ebay and in person. I see that you are selling cards also and may not be real so I guess I should also go forward with this. If you feel that the card are no good for you then don't bid but others may like what they see and when they get there card if there unhappy I will refund them."

Looking at his feedback, he stiffed a buyer on a phony '33 Sports King Ruth - so much for his refund policy.

Hi Ben
The Anson is an absolute Fake! The image was stolen from the Library of Congress collection, it has the same creases and the same faded image. Most Old Judge collectors are hobby veterans and wouldn't be fooled by such an obvious fake, must be a newbie or a shill to establish credibilty on high dollar cards.
Happy Holidays Brian
