Default R340 Sport Kings Premiums

I’ve seen an old post on this topic, but has anyone every seen one of the eight R340 Sport Kings premiums in any sport. Supposedly there was a proof in REA many years ago of s Babe Ruth. If they are on the wrapper, you would think they would exist. 50c was a lot of money. So, saving 50 of wrappers would have been a feat.

Can't help too much, however, REA did make reference to this Ruth (https://www.robertedwardauctions.com...ium-babe-ruth/) possibly being an R340. The description also references a single Johnny Weissmuller as well and indicates a picture can be found VCBC #18 (sorry, don't have a copy). The Ruth proof you are likely referring to is from 2005 (https://bid.robertedwardauctions.com...ce?itemid=2564) but is only referenced as an R309.

It would be nice if someone could post the Weissmuller image from February 1999 VCBC #18.

Adam Warshaw has some info on this as well, hopefully he chimes in

on the original full count board (John Spencer's) there was someone whose name escapes me that had a similar premium of Ruth, except it had a green outer border. His name was Frank and his user name or email was canofprimo (he lived in Hawaii). Does that sound familiar to anyone? I'd never seen the green border version before or since and there was speculation it was related to the sport kings premiums.

It was Frank Ward...FKW...he is selling it in the thread below, but I have no idea if it sold or not. He hasn't been on the forum in a little over 7 yrs.

Anthony - I think that the Ruth with a green border was some sort of proof. It was not an R340.

Here is the R340 Weismuller.

yes, i have also heard that the green bordered Ruth was found at Goudey HQ after they closed and was probably a prototype because it doesn't even fit in the typical mailer envelope Goudey used. Note: My Tilden and Ruth are being auctioned by REA in late october or November along with my other Goudeys and Batter's Up....getting a little excited!!!
