Default Fake 1921 Schapira Babe Ruth in PSA holder on ebay

Warning that there is a fake 1921 Schapira Babe Ruth on ebay in a compromised PSA holder. Link is here: Link

The listing already has 36 bids and counting, and is already over $1000 for the unsuspecting buyer. I've attached a copy of the card so you can see what's wrong with it.

Red Flags
(1) The seller has 0 feedback or very little feedback. Usually means that the fraudster is creating a dummy account to offload the suspect item.
(2) Note the frosting on the edges of the PSA holder. There is often frosting on even genuine PSA holders, so this can be a false positive. However, together with the other evidence, means that you should be very wary of this card. Frosting typically means that the holder was illegitimately sealed.
(3) There is way too much space between the card and the inset. PSA isn't very good at custom insets, so for irregular sized cards, there is often the big gap that we see here. However, the Schapira is more of a standard sized card, so you don't usually see this much space.
(4) The front of the card is not crisp, but is blurry. Compare the front to a legitimate card such as the one that I have attached in the next post. You can see that a genuine Shapira has a crisp image while this one seems washed out.
(5) The back of the card looks like an aged reprint. When you see orange or rust colored on the back of the card, this is often a giveaway for an aged reprint. Or you'll see a bunch of cracked lines which is another common feature of an aged card. Compare this to the back scan of a real card in the next post.

Here's a genuine Schapira that you can compare the above card with.

If you look up the cert, the real card sold in REA in 2018.

Good job, Gary. While most tenured pre war collectors would look at that and immediately notice the off printing, many on the forum who are newer can always learn (as well as us older guys too).
