Default Lets see some Blue Streak cards :)

I just got the one in the PSA slab back from them today. Still mislabeled but hey it is PSA what do you expect. This is the only 8 with none higher on a very condition sensitive card.

My PSA rant. There was already Roger Clemens Blue Streak cards in the PSA registry when I sent mine in the first time. In came back as a plain Roger Clemens card with the PD qualifier for having the Blue Streak.

Sent it back in recently to get it labeled correctly as the Blue Streak version. According to PSA they did grade Blue Streak cards in the past but was not when mine was graded. So they added a $25 fee for the correct label and new slab. What can you do but smile, pay the fee, and hope they get it correct. They did not get it correct the first time as they just wanted to put it in a new holder with the same wrong flip. Got back to them that it needs to be labeled as a Blue Streak card like in the paperwork sent with the card.

Ended up at least getting it labeled as a Blue Streak but they did not remove the PD for having the Blue Streak.

I know others have some Blue Streak errors so please post yours.

LOL, then it would have come back labeled correctly but graded a 5.5 instead of a 8.

Here is my rack pack with the Clemens Blue Streak showing in the center. I have only ever seen 2 of these with Clemens showing.

PD + blue streak on label is a conflict unless there is another print defect aside from the streak

No other print defect. At some point I need to get it to someone who is going to a show with onsite grading. Maybe then the problem can be explained and finally corrected.

Got these in the mail today.
The highest grade Tom Seaver, highest Clemens other than a 8 with a qualifier, and there are only 4 total Puhl cards graded. Puhl has 2 PSA 7s and 2 PSA 8s.

Oops, just noticed I had them in the wrong serial number order.

Nice blue streak cards, Ben. Why do they grade blue streaks but do not grade well known and sought after '52 print defects like the Campos partial top border cards? Most '52 collectors that I know pay a significant premium for those? Odd...

I don't know much about PSA or the 52 set. I only use PSA if I am going to sell the cards. Besides the Eddie Mathews I gave the rest of the 52s I had to fellow members working on the set. The Blue Streak cards also get an extremely significant premium and always have.

Thanks, Al. They are the same exact cards I posted earlier in the SGC slabs. I cracked them out and sent them to PSA. PSA gave all 3 cards a small bump in grades.

A total PSA population is:
Terry Puhl 4
Tom Seaver 8
Roger Clemens 30

Overall(graded/raw) the Clemens are not that hard to find. The Seaver can be difficult to find. The Terry Puhl is an extremely serious PIA to find.

Halfway through a box of 1986 Topps and have pulled all three blue streak cards. Pretty fun opening!

Here are my two. I went in a different direction though. Mr Clements has been freed from his encumbrance. Now if I could just find a pesky Puhl I would have all three......cough. ;-)

Thanks for the responses. I'm brand new to this forum and appreciate all the input about these blue streak cards. After receiving some advice I'm going to submit them for PSA grading this week. It seems like it would be good for myself and possible buyers to authenticate these before trying to sell. Thanks again for the input. -CJ

Sounds great, keep me in mind when you get the Puhl back from grading.

The Puhl is too off center to make it worth grading. Unless the Clemens and Seaver are way nicer they are not worth grading either. Really no reason to authenticate either as these are not counterfeited.

Any thoughts on if this would be considered a "new" find for a blue streak card?

It’s from a different sheet, the Niekro is F* and the Clemens-Seaver-Puhl are from the D* sheet. It would be worth looking into who is above the Niekro.

You may be right, I looked the other day for a 86 F* sheet but I couldn’t find one on the internet. I was surprised at how many 86 Topps Phil Niekro Record Breaker cards had the blue streak on eBay, I would say it was between 10%-20% of them.

I found a scan of the 1986 Topps F* sheet, I have scans of all of the 1986 Topps sheets that I had forgotten about. A Pete Rose commemerative card is above the Niekro RB card and Frank Wills is to the right of Rick Aguilera.

It is a lack of black and not extra blue. To save money they will print other colors under black to make the black look better. In this case it is blue under black.

Plus, black is very nearly always last. a good solid black will cover any color, but most won't cover black.

There are always exceptions, and the one I've found for that is the 81 fleer star stickers. Most of them are dark blue and the black was printed last. Some are a lighter blue and the black was printed before the blue.
It does make me wonder if they were originally intended to have white borders.

I have several near blackless 1986 Topps that show the blue base. As other's have said it is not extra blue, it is missing black.
