Is it hard to get 10s on cards of that age? This is a vintage forum, so please forgive my ignorance.

Hmmm....My 1953 Bowman is hard to get a '10' on....I can speak for Greg's, as modern ain't my thing....

Here's an interesting read on the 80s sets and how the author screens cards from cases that he thinks are worthy of PSA 10s. Would have more merit if he sent any of them in during the past three years. Probably will have to spend 2x-3x the fortune for grading fees at whatever point he starts to submit them.

Even the chrome cards from the 90s would most likely be 8-9s due to centering and surface scratches just from being handled and moved around over 20 years.

Thanks for posting that thread, John. Very interesting, and a fun read. Looks like '87 Donruss in particular make for tough "10s", due to chronic centering issues and those black borders. Appreciate your insight, and have a new appreciation for gem mint grades among common cards.
