Default Time for a show-n-tell UZIT fest, so if you have a UZIT....show it.

My research indicates that only 74 subjects were printed with the UZIT back. This same research also revealed that the UZIT
back and AMERICAN BEAUTY 460 back were printed on the same T206 subjects. I like to refer them as the "twins"
Furthermore, my theory is these two T206 backs (and LENOX) were the last T206's issued by ATC (circa early 1911).

In 2006, I started my run on the AB 460 cards and the UZIT cards. At this point, I am one card shy of completing the AB 460
run (74 cards). The UZIT run is far from being completed, as I've sold a number of them to Net54 collectors and David Hall.

Having said all this good stuff....if you have a UZIT....show it.

My favorite two UZIT cards **
-------

UZIT checklist......

350/460 series............................ 28 subjects confirmed (complete).

Berger
Bradley (bat)
Burch (fielding)
Cobb (bat off shoulder)
Conroy (bat)
Crawford (bat)
Jennings (one hand)
Jennings (two hands)
Jordan (bat)
Lajoie (bat)
Lake (no ball-St Louis)
Leach (cap)
Leifield (bat)
Manning (pitching)
McQuillan (bat)
Mullin (bat)
Overall (yellow sky)
Pelty (vertical)
Pfeister (throwing)
F. Smith (Chicago & Boston)
Steinfeldt (bat)
Tinker (bat off)
Wagner (bat on right shoulder)
Doc White (pitching)
Wilhelm (bat)
Willetts
Willis (bat)
Wiltse (pitching)

This series list is still a work in progress. I expect 14 more UZIT cards from this series will eventually be discovered.
460-only series........................... 32 subjects confirmed (incomplete).

Abbaticchio (blue sleeves)
Ball (Cleveland)
Bell (follow thru)
Bergen (catching)
Bridwell (portrait-cap)
Howie Camnitz (arms up)
Harry Camnitz (arms side)
Chance (bat)
Chase (trophy)
Crandall (portrait-cap)
Frill
Geyer
Herzog (Boston)
Hummel
Lake (ball-St Louis)
Latham
Marquard (follow thru)
McGraw (portrait-cap)
McGraw (glove at hip)
Merkle (throwing)

Murray (portrait)
Oldring (bat)
Overall (blue sky)
Schaefer (Washington)
Schlei (portrait)
Schlei (bat)
Schulte (back view)
Seymour (portrait)
Sheckard (glove)
H. Smith (Brooklyn)
Tinker (bat on)
Wiltse (portrait-cap)

** Note..... There is an interesting story to be told regarding how I acquired
these two (Schaefer and McGraw) UZIT cards. I'll leave it for another day.

Hi Cliff

It was great meeting you at the National. And, providing you the PIEDMONT 460/#42 of Tommy Leach for your collection.

The biggest "kick" I get from the National is meeting up with many members of Net54.

I have the Chance Uzit but it is buried in my spare room. I’ll try to get it and post a photo. Bought it from 707 many years ago at the Boston Card Show.

Fred Merkle is another one of my favorite UZIT cards. This is a good start, let's continue running this "UZIT-train" rolling down the tracks

Great cards, fellas!

Probably my favorite back. I've owned many of them over the last 30 years...this Mullin has been with me probably the last 6 or 7 years. Uzit backs can often look faded, or lightly printed...This is one of the boldest/darkest ones I've seen.

Default Time for a show-n-tell UZIT fest, so if you have a UZIT....show it.

For starters, we have 14 different UZIT cards accounted for.....not too bad
We have at least 46 more to show. And who knows, we may even come up with some of the 14 (currently) unconfirmed UZIT guys
to approach the total number of 74. So, let's go "gung-ho" and continue posting these rare "blue gems", and see where it takes us.

Whatever....former or current, UZIT cards are worthy of show-n-tell at any time. And, their condition is immaterial.

Incidentally, that Marquard is quite amazing.

I'm also thankful that Polar Bear is my favorite back, much more affordable in most cases.

Hi Ted, not sure what else was in that Uzit deal, sorry! But I do remember one of our trades being a Drum for a BL460, I forget which way it went, and we might've also done a second trade on those, in reverse...we've definitely deal some cool deals over the years- Uzit, red hindu, Drum, BL, etc...Anything to trade these days?

Hope all is well, my friend.

We sure have done a lot of T206 deals, starting back to the 1990's at the Fort Washington Philly Shows.
And most of our transactions were strictly trades. Very little $$$$ deals were made.

We certainly practiced the true meaning of wheeling-n-dealing in "Trading Cards"

Imagine opening a UZIT cigarette pack in the Spring of 1911 and finding a T206 card and a T80 card !

At the beginning of 1911, American Lithographic launched their Gold-Border series of cards. The T80 cards depicting worldwide Military subjects was one of the first issues.
The artwork of the T80 cards is very distinctive, and their gold borders are quite ornate. By the Spring of 1911, T206 card production had ended.

ATC instructed Factory #30 to insert the remaining T206 UZIT cards with the T80 UZIT cards in the UZIT packs. This is illustrated in this link.......

OK Net54er's......we've increased the tally to 24 different UZIT cards. We have at least 36 different more UZIT's to go.

I'm especially pleased to see the Hummel and Crandall UZIT cards. I have been working on a run of the Exclusive 12 subjects (156 cards total).
These two guys are in this group.

To date, your Crandall is one of only 5 subjects in the Exclusive 12 group confirmed with UZIT.

Furthermore, I will include my McGraw/UZIT (Exclusive 12 group). It is a unique T206.

Here’s another...I’ll keep adding one occasionally until I’m out.

Default Time for a show-n-tell UZIT fest, so if you have a UZIT....show it.

Just a little bit of humor to provide a friendly bump here.

In my wild imagination, I fantasize of finding this Cobb with a T80 UZIT back on it. This may seem improbable
but the UZIT press runs of both the T206 and T80 cards were approximately the same time (circa early 1911).

Besides, Cobb has been quoted as saying to the effect...." Baseball is like War ! "

So, here is "General Cobb" wielding his "weapon of War"

That sole T80 military Uzit example needs some backup. The Uzit brand was equally as tough to find for this series! Shoot me a PM if you're interested in a type card.

Hi Jeff

Thanks for the offer of the T80 cards....however, I have a near-complete set with the variety of backs.

I have yet to find the tough OLD MILL back in this set.

Wish I knew earlier Ted. I've owned several and could have helped out.

Here's my story regarding the UZIT Schaefer card.

Cooperstown...... circa 1987:
I set-up at the (2-day) HOF weekend Show at the VFW Bldg. It was always a really great Show. At 7 PM (Saturday nite) Don & Bill (Show promoters) ran an Auction.
I had just begun enhancing my T206 collection, by acquiring rare backs. This UZIT card was in the auction. When it was time to bid for it, I instantly raised my hand.
There was a pause, I looked around and there were no other bids on it. I won it (or should I say....."I stole it").
Does anyone here would like to guess what I paid for it ?

.

Incidentally, the next lot in this same auction was this Chance and I won it, too.....

.

Stay tuned to my story regarding the McGraw UZIT......you will find it quite interesting.

So far, we have posted 30 different UZIT cards....18 subjects from the 350/460 Series, and 12 subjects from the 460-only Series.

Presently, there are 60 different subjects with UZIT backs confirmed; therefore, we have 50% of them on display here.

Thanks everyone. Looking forward to seeing some more UZIT's.
