Default Purchased this Willie Mays Catch autographed photo at a thrift shop.

Was just wondering if the signature is likely real. It does have an authentication seal on it. Also, assuming it is real, what might be the ballpark value? I'll add a link to photos. Appreciate any help.

I don't believe that to be an authentic signature of Mays but I'm sure others will chime in.

Not sure on mays. Early GAI stickered things were relatively reliable. Later on they changed and began certifying many fakes. Not sure how you can tell which period by the sticker number but in general it is best to stay away from them. In general though go by your study of the signature and like you are doing ask the experts here if not sure

Going with my 1st impression I’m not a fan of it even before seeing the GA sticker. I agree with Michael that Global was ok for awhile but later had major issues.
I’m sure there are better Mays experts on the site and I’m sure they’ll offer an opinion .

I don’t think this GA which is Global Authentics has any relationship to GAI from the old days does it? GAI was ok with one guy for a bit but that was years ago. This GA outfit I have no clue about but this auto is questionable to say the least.

Default for what its worth

The GA website does say that particular # is associated with an 8x10 Willie Mays autographed photo. However, the sticker itself looks pretty unclear and maybe a reproduction of an original based on the photos on the link. A real sticker usually is crystal clear and sharp no matter the company.

That is a GAI sticker. What is interesting is GA dropped the white then I on their sticker. Not sure if they bought GAI or just have a very similar sticker but check GAI stickers (can look on ebay for examples) and that is one of them On the GA website it says

Please note that Global Authentics LLC is not the same company as Global Authentication Inc (a California Corporation) that went out of business in 2009. Global Authentics LLC is providing legacy GAI CertCheck data as a courtesy to GAI's customers but has no affiliation with GAI or globalauthentication.com. Weird that they are trying to be a copycat of a company with a dubious reputation with the sticker similarity
