Default Real Or Fake ? 1913 Connie Mack

My local Craigslist has this, but when i look at the set, the cards are more black than this card which looks brown?

Can anybody help at saying if its just the picture and might be real?

It looks wrong to me, but I am by no means an expert, and have never actually seen one in person.

There was a least 1 reprint of these where the word "REPRINT" was printed on the lower left of the back of the card, right where it is really washed out and hard to see on this one. Doesn't mean there weren't other fakes/reprints, just that at least this one exists.

Even if real (which I don't think it is), in that condition the value would be minimal. So I would just stay away....

I think it's a reprint also, but even if real its likely not worth more than 40 bucks...run away.

Don't buy it Wes. Just like everyone else has said, that Craigslist card is a reprint.

You were right about the front color - authentic ones are blacker than the Mack that you posted.

Another tip is to look at the corners of the card. The reprints are more rounded, while the authentic ones have a much sharper radius on them.

Here's my National Game card for comparison:

Hope this helps!

AWSOME guys!
Thanks so much.

Saved me a boat load of $ that I, instead spent on a graded Willard Chocolate Rube Marquard.

Thanks so much.

BTW, anybody have a Connie Mack for sale, under $75 a $80?

Yes, it's a poor fake.
Many, if not most, dealers don't know the info in this thread. And when you try to tell them they don't want to hear it .

Leon, the knowledge in this board is such that I trust it before I make any purchase on RAW.
This board serves such a great service to us novice collectors that are not studied in thePreWar, but want to get into it more.
This board is tremendous.
