I just noticed that it's currently up to 12%. I figured I'd pass this along in case anyone was interested.

12% off what vendor? I know that there was a discount for eBay that was discussed here once upon a time, but I don't see a discount for that.

The 12% is off ebay BIN purchases. Use this link:

http://search.live.com/results.aspx?q=lego+table&go=&form=QBRE

Select the ebay link in the shaded box and then search for whatever item you want.

Michael - not everything with a BIN is overpriced (although much is) - it was mentioned this AM in another thread that an Uncle Jack's Bottomley was sitting with a $250 BIN for months and didn't sell, then went to auction style and sold for $400+.

I agree with Matt. You may have to dig a bit, but there are still a few dealers with reasonable prices on their BIN's. The discount is just a bonus when you find one.

There are some reasonable deals, especially when that discount hits 20%+. My chances of finding them usually depends on how much work time I can spend scouring ebay...

I know it's probably impossible to predict but what do others think on the chances of the discount going up or down in the near future?

i was surprised this program came back, I thought it had died out. they must be shelling out an awful lot of money for this program. I just made one purchase today and got the 12%. I have my eye on a couple other things, but am unsure on pulling the trigger.

Does anyone think it might hit 20 or more % anytime soon>?

I assume you search for your items through the Microsoft site. Are all eBay items subject to CashBack, just BINs or random items? Please 'splain.

I believe just BIN's. I think there may be some, but few, restrictions on the BIN's but I believe any card with a BIN is eligable. I don't think it applies if best offer is used (Not 100% sure of that). I believe pretty much any single BIN purchase is eligable if your searching with the live cashback.

I know it only works when you begin your search with a live search. Each live search session lasts one hour and only one eligable purchase can be made in that one hour session. It's best to look at what you want by searching ebay first and then when your ready to buy search for it through live.com. As far as I know discount does not apply to auction formats only BIN's

Erick - that's correct; it does not apply to auction format or if a seller accepts your best offer, but most sellers will agree to change the BIN price if you come to terms so that you can take advantage of the rebate at your offer price.

I find a $1k card on eBay that is a BIN and has the little gold symbol indicating the item is eligible for the Microsoft discount. I hit the BIN for $1k and paypal credits my account $120.00. Is that correct? I am concerned about the "may be eligible" part of the statement. Is there an upper limit to the cash back? I also have my eye on a $6k card, which when coupled with the 12% discount of $720.00, the purchase could make sense.

Why does Microsoft do this? I can't get the correlation to what's in it for them.

Al, I believe the limit is $200 maximum cashback per transaction regardless of the BIN. My experience with cashback was with 4 transactions which were all paid in to my Paypal account but which took 30-45 days to get there from the date of purchase.

Al,

You are basically correct. Its a great deal, however, you need to read the fine print. First, the credit is not instant. For most purchases, you do not receive the rebate for 60 days. Second, there is generally an upper limit on the amount of the credit. Late last year, there was a maximum rebate of $200. Finally, you will not get the rebate if you havent signed up for an account through microsoft live.com and linked it to your paypal account.

You can make only 12 purchases with a total of $2500 in purchases.
I made 11 purchases and 10 of them gave me instant cashback to my Paypal account.
Only 1 purchase made me wait 60 days.

If you setup another ebay account you can get 12 more discounts. I'm on my 3rd one, although haven't used the discount since the last time it was 20%.
