Default Favorite Charles Conlon photos?

Meant to post this on his birthday (28 Nov), but it is close enough. Post your favorite Charles Conlon photos.

Wikipedia:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_M._Conlon

Baseball HOF:
https://baseballhall.org/discover-mo...-donor-support

Smithsonian
https://www.smithsonianmag.com/histo...pher-67085398/

His most famous shot is this one:

My favorite, which I acquired from LOTG auctions earlier this year is this Type 1 with Conlon's handwritten remarks penciled on the back:

Fun fact about Tim Jordan, after leading the league in HR in 1906 and 1908, despite his decline, in 1910, when Conlon snapped the photo, he had one and only hit, a pinch-hit HR (his final career hit).

Default Hod Eller

Here is my photo of 1919 Cincinnati Reds RHP no-hit pitcher Hod Eller.
Eller was part of the 1919 World Seies Championship Team.

IMHO, this is the essential photo of Eller. A classic!
Merry Christmas to all!

Default Heinie Manush

I also wound up with this Glass Plate negative by Conlon from 1929. This is the photo that was used to make (one of) Manush's 1933 Goudey baseball cards:

Interesting that it has both Conlon and Paul Thompson stamping on the reverse. And those belt buckles that sit right on the hip bone always look so uncomfortable. But I agree.... it's an awesome image of Eller.

By far my favorite Conlon.
I like it so much I had Graig Kreindler paint it.

Default 1924 Washington Senators by Conlon

This piece was a gift of the Wright and Ditson-Victor Co. to attendees at the annual meeting of the National Association of Professional Base Ball Leagues, held in Hartford, Connecticut, in December 1924. All 24 of the photos displayed were taken by Charles Conlon. You probably can't see it, but it says Conlon Photos in the bottom center black border between Shirley and Leibold.

Here’s a couple of mine. 1910 is actually a glass negative of Matty with mascot Jimmy Grealish and a 1912 WaJo.

I have been going thru my photos yesterday and today, in a style reminiscent of when I used to sort Topps cards on my parents living room floor in the 1970s.

This one jumped out at me.

Not really a surprise that it's a Conlon.

Well, full disclosure, the white boxes are all empty, although I have four full boxes that aren't shown (that's why you can't see a Dodgers box).

So, yes, it's a lot, but not as many as you might think.

Does anyone happen to know who purchased the Conlon photographic archive negatives from Heritage in 2016 for $1,792,500?

I spent a bit less than 1/100th of 1% of that to be able to add Mr. Mack to this thread

What a poignant photo of the great Mack. You can almost see into his soul...or at least into his bushy eyebrows...

Default Peckinpaugh

I have this Roger Peckinpaugh Conlon (5 x 8 with a clipped corner), and today I discover that I also have this other Peckinpaugh (8 x 10)...

So, it becomes one of my favorite Conlons, by virtue of having it twice...

Fascinating.

Nap Lajoie discovered Peckinpaugh as a high school student, and signed him to his first professional contract. Peckinpaugh debuted with the Naps, who traded him to the Yankees in 1913. He managed the Yankees for 20 games in 1914 and was the team captain for the remainder of his time with the club.

He was the AL MVP in 1925. That same year, in the World Series against the Pittsburgh Pirates, Peckinpaugh committed eight errors in the seven-game series, an MLB record

I am sure who ever bought them did really really well on both the collection front and the investment front especially the way many of those famous ones jumped in value

I especially love his Action photo's and the real closeups of the player
