Default Could this be the weirdest ebay bidding ever?

Posted By: Bob

1911 Zeenut Weaver on ebay. I made a last second bid and apparently bid the exact same amount down to the penny $2,222.22 as the winner. How strange is that?

That is strange but I have seen that kind of stuff too. I was watching that card. It was nice...

I've seen it too, I've also seen where the winner
wins by 1 cent. But you are right it does not happen often.

the rare case on ebay where it doesn't work out to put in your bid at the last possible second.

About 10 years ago I lost a vg E92 Croft Cocoa common by a penny -- my bid was about $33 or so. That card would be 10x that now.

I've had that happen to me before. Fortunately I put my bid in first. Still, you don't see that very often and is 2 your favorite number?

Ha ha....... same thing happened to me a couple years ago. Now I dont use the same number all the way across, I like to end them in "9's" now ie. 2222.29

All I have to say is that I'm glad it went near market. I was a little worried when it was so low.

Congrats to the winner. Sorry that you didn't snag it Bob.

My favorite card.

Yes, really weird, oh well there will be another day.
Steve- since my whole near set is graded by SGC I was afraid that when I crossed it over the writing on the back would drop it to an SGC 10, do you agree?

Same thing happened a about two years ago when I won a (you laugh now) 1981 Topps Football Wax Box for 475.75. Someone else had the exact same bid with something like eight seconds to go. Because I knew nothing of snipe services and rushed a bid after forgetting to sign in I also hit 475.75 with about six secs left. Fortunately (I laugh now) I was just getting back into the hobby and had my eye towards T206's and the three Montana RC's that graded 9's funded my T206 beginnings. An Evers with bat SGC 30 and a Walter Johnson Portrait SGC 20. To me not bad for 475.75. Well $495.75 after grading!

The writing would result in an SGC 10.

I had a snipe set on this card and don't think it took. It was destined to go in the 2k range...All Weavers from Trucker Boy were $600....I got these 3 for that much each...

Another negative to sniping - earlier this year I had a snipe set that was higher than the winning bid. However, it didn't get placed because two other snipes pushed the bid high enough that mine wasn't about the minimum bid increment (bid had to be $1 above the current bid, mine was only 50 cents higher...)

More strange eBay logic. This Uncle Jack was on eBay for a while with a BIN of $250, but nobody jumped on it: http://cgi.ebay.com/1933-Uncle-Jacks-Candy-JIM-BOTTOMLEY-HOF-PSA-2_W0QQitemZ110362628710QQihZ001QQcategoryZ31718QQs sPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

It was relisted as a regular auction and sold for $488+: http://cgi.ebay.com/1933-Uncle-Jacks-Candy-JIM-BOTTOMLEY-HOF-PSA-2_W0QQitemZ110364187926QQihZ001QQcategoryZ31718QQs sPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
