1967 & 1968 Topps Test Discs - Expanding the Knowledge Base
Posted By: Dave Hornish
This weekend’s discussion revolves around three aborted Topps test issues from 1967 and 1968. It appears the company was trying to produce both a national and local version of a pin set but for some reason abandoned the idea. Oddly, they returned to this idea in 1968 and abandoned it again. |

I'd vote for the '68s as being the most difficult, but that's probably because I have only one. Sniff. |

I assume SGC will grade these because the disc itself is not cutout? I think they grade Bazookas the same way if not mistaken. Those look really nice holdered. |

I am with Bob on the 68s being tougher. I have the 67s but only two 68s. If they do show up somewhere, Bob will probably pig them all |

Thanks Jim. I am a frustrated historian who entered the business world I guess. I have always liked reading and writing about the history of these and other sets. Plus my ulterior motive of gaining further knowledge is working, especially here and on the Stickers thread. I toy with the idea of a website for it all but that will be for my semi-retirement in a decade or so. Not nearly enough time to fit it in right now. |

I recently send this to SCG for grading and they said they do not grade these. |

Dredging this up from the past. Can anyone tell me what team Tommy Davis appears on in the 1968 Disc set? I presume it is the Mets but want to check. Thanks!

Carew?
Who are the players in the 68 set, that are not in '67? Is there a confirmed Carew out there? Thanks.

I put a couple of combined checklists up. Looking for scans of the 11 players who are in the 67 and 68 sets.
Actually, I think it's just a single 1967 set that was changed along the way. http://toppsarchives.blogspot.com/20...ped-discs.html |
