When it come to ebay auctions....good or bad scans definately can play a part in the final sale price...some cards are a gamble with a bad scan..just odn't ever know what your going to get....here is my latest pickup...a gamble that paid off with a low ending price.... |

To add..not a crease or scratch anywhere..if the card wasn't so short I don't know that I could keep from busting it out and soaking that paper off the back....he he |

It's clear he used a digital camera instead of a scanner. Why didn't he simply stand directly above the card and get a picture as close up as possible. What is the purpose of shooting from a great distance at an angle? |

Barry -- He would have gotten even more flash if he were closer. |

Couldn't you take the picture at a slight angle and avoid most of the flash? The angle he took the photo was so severe that the card is barely visible. I use a scanner myself. |

I have one of those Brother 5-in-1 scanners and am unable to scan slabs because the door won't close completely. Even in total darkness the scan won't turn out properly. |

You can pick up a reasonably nice scanner for $100. |

I run frequent ebay auctions and do well with digital pics. I always use a black background and usually crop the pictures. I will also send more pics out to anyone who request them. |

Dave is 100% right. Having bought and sold on ebay a great scan can really help the selling price, you can pick up some great T206s with bad scans just because people are scared off. Occasionally you might get screwed but if the seller looks reputable and puts an accurate description you can get a steal. |

I finally had to break down and buy a new scanner yesterday. I replaced my old Microtek with a new Microtek S400, $99 after a $20 rebate. The main reasons were, the other one broke after about 5-6yrs and this one has a high speed USB port which will greatly reduce the time spent scanning. I have scanned about 30 cards with it and all is well....I agree nice big scans of front and backs will alleviate a lot of problems in the sales process....best regard |
