Default Here's a Great Hoops Set You Need in Your PC

Can we, the collecting community, give more love to the 1969 Topps Basketball (tallboy) set? Still to be found are many cards very reasonably priced raw and in low to mid-grade. Dozens of HOFers, many in their debut / rookie card.

Kareem, Hondo, Clyde, Willis, The Pearl - all Hall of Fame Rookies! Below are some sample pictures from the set registry (nicer than my copies!). Personally its my third favorite all-time set (behind 1961 Fleer and 1986 Fleer).

Feel free to post your favorite examples....

A great set that is loaded with rookies. A favorite of mine as well. Here are a few of my favorites.

Wow awesome cards David!

Most of mine are in grades 4-7. Here’s my two copies of Kareem (Lew Alcindor for the younger crowd out there). One really nice 5 and an SGC 1 that looks better in person.

It's always struck me as odd that after only a 4 year gap, 61 Fleer has RCs of 3 elite all time greats, top 15 type players -- Baylor, Chamberlain, Robertson and West -- whereas after an 8 year gap, 69 Topps has only Alcindor and I suppose you could argue Havlicek.

Interesting point Peter. I just did a quick count of the players on the 75th anniversary team. It looks like 7 had rookie cards in the 1961 Fleer set and 12 were rookies in the 1969 Topps set. If my count is right. Pretty cool…. Also, nice cards!

Yeah 69 is strong once you get below that upper elite tier, no doubt.

Peter, your top 15 must be a lot different than mine, because other than Kareem and Wilt, I don't have any of those guys that high.
