Last thread was getting kind of long.
Horrible scan of a nice Speaker, thanks Richard.

Brian,
Two great cards. Is there something to justify the relatively low grades?

Jim,

The N284 has a couple of spots of glue residue on the reverse.

The Dockman has me stumped, though i'm guessing that there is some light creasing that isn't visible on the scan.

Found these antiquing on the Eastern Shore of Virginia this weekend. Finally - a somewhat interesting find. First time I've seen a black & white E97.

thanks daniel, jim. had to downgrade but i'm very happy with it.

kenneth,

those are very nice e97s. everyone know the rossman is tough but i feel the kleinow is a very underrated card in the set and one of the most beautiful with the green back.

edited to add regarding barry's gray back comment on the davis...i've also had a davis that had a similar look a few years back. i raised the question then and i think scott b. said it's missing a layer of color? i've seen a couple others with the same thing most recently a camnitz. def. one of my favorite sets.

Kenneth- Wow, unbelievable. The only cards I ever find while antiquing are beaten up and creased Star Wars Series 3 cards or 1998 Donruss cards Just out of curiosity, wanna share with us how much you paid for them?

In 1920 "Ole Bill" Rumler was accused of throwing games, and taking money from Gamblers. For his involvement, he was given a five-year suspension for his involvement in the Pacific Coast League betting scandal. Most of the other players involved in this scandal were given lifetime bans.

With no other choices, Rumler played in Outlaw Leagues over the next few years. In 1929, the thirty-nine year old returned to the PCL with Hollywood, where Salt Lake had moved.

Here's Rumler's 1929 Zeenut. Thanks Mark!

Once in a great while, you get a card that is so far out of your league that you never even bothered putting it on your wantlist. For me, this is one of those cards -- the one on the top.

Andy,

I'm not familiar with the colorized find by Chris. Is he the one who posted a few colorized Play Balls a few months ago? I know the Stengel is listed in the Standard Catalog, so it is not a new discovery.

Those PBs are amazing... Giving up on Fro-Joys -again. My latest Ruth beaters. I'm thinking that is the Babe in a Sox uniform, but who the heck knows with these crude drawings;

i'm off to a pretty good start on my high-grade T205 collection...i think this one should be in an "8" holder, IMO.

Mike, I agree with you on that one. Not sure what improvements could exist to make that card a 9, let alone an 8. My suggestion is to humbly request a cross-over from SGC....

I just picked up one of my all-time favorites (thank you again Larry).

If we had a greatest card ever created thread... this card would get my vote as a candidate. The coloring, the pose, the player, the write-up on the back. Its hard for me to think of a better crafted card.

(yes, I am excited to have it)

I know it's OT, but I couldn't help myself. I picked up "Peach" from the Dallas/Fort Worth Pug Rescue's Austin branch. My kids named her after a Nintendo character, but I'm going to make believe she's named after Cobb. She's certainly alot sweeter than Cobb. Also, I recently picked up a Lord Novelty Cutlery & a Collins PC796 postcard.
