Default Mall Theatre survey/ request for info

I am almost finished with an article on Mall Theatre and the m101-4 cards with that ad back, although it may never be read by anyone. I know these are scarce or rare, but was hoping I could get some additions to my confirmed subjects list, which currently stands at 11 plus some that were listed in an old Dolloff catalogue.

Right now I have these: #10 Bancroft; 72 Griffith (number trimmed off); 88 James, 100 Lavender, 171 Strunk, 178 Vaughn, 181 Vitt, 183 Walker, 192 Wilson, 193 Wingo and 197 Young. Here's one of mine to get us started:

If you have any additions or information and would post scans here or pm them to me privately (anonymity guaranteed), I would greatly appreciate it.

I can't help with the list but I can tell you, unequivocally, that I am always eager to read your articles. Your expertise and groundbreaking research in the M101/4-5 niche, particularly, has consistently captured my attention.
When and where can we expect to see the piece?
all the best to you, Todd

Barry

Wish I could add to the list but I thought I would at least add a scan of a documented card.

Add 199 Heiny Zimmerman to your list.
I got my example many years ago from Mark Macrae at a National Convention in New Jersey. As I recall , he had a small hoard of them (maybe 30?).

Default Nice Bill James!

Mark,
I remember that card well - I miss it more than most cards I've unloaded.

Todd,
The 197 Young is my only one - from the Dolloff group.

Hi Tim,

Thanks, I know about the Young--I traded it to you Although I did not know it was your only one.

Barry, thanks for the kind words. I think I will wait a little longer and see what surfaces here before moving further on any article. For example, my view of the Mall Theater scarcity will shift noticeably if there are dozens of additional examples that can be at least quasi-confirmed by reputable sources. Mini-finds of one card back or another have popped up over the past 10-12 year so this should not be surprising.

Mark, thanks for the scan-- it was the last to elude me of those I listed.

Paul, thanks for the Zimmerman, and for shining the light on a possible list of others.

Any and all information greatly appreciated, as this topic is seldom discussed.

Default Did you?

trade it to me? I know I bought three in the Dolloff group, and I remember selling one to Mark... what happened to the others, I wonder, if I traded for Young. Did it have anything to do with your disturbing Tilly Walker obsession?

I was provided a scan of this one by e-mail--some of you may recognize him:

I just wanted to make one last post and express thanks to collector Fr.ank Ben.nett for this Rucker confirmed Mall Theatre. I also received emails from a reliable source that there may have been a couple of dozen sold back in the 80's. I'll always be interested if anyone here finds and wants to share any more.

Nice work Todd. As someone who collected backs from the start of my collecting, this is always interesting stuff to me. As you probably know I have a Bancroft and so didn't reply early on. I have probably sold a few Mall Theaters over the years but can't remember them specifically. (very poor and edited scan)
