He paid an awful lot of money for a card and he's not even sure its real? Did I read that right? I suppose if he gave me $10k I could authenticate it myself, the heck with PSA or SGC. martyOgelvie nyyankeecards.com |

The back looked suspect to me in the video...the ink seemed too dark and thick, but what do I know. |

Reporter: So, how come the Keeler and Cobb cards are graded by GAI and PSA but the Wagner is not graded by anybody? |

If its a true story then i feel bad for the guy but he says theyve done research theyre still doing research to find out if its real? They havent found this site yet? or the t206 museum site? or asked someone who knows vintage cards yet? you have at least 100 people who come to this site who dont even have to see the card in person to tell him its not real....and who has 60k just lying around but is worried about paying their house off? what did he do,buy a million dollar house on a middle class salary with hopes that a Honus Wagner card would just fall out of the ceiling to help him pay for it? |

Lots of nice cards falling out of ceilings these past few months...I know what I'm doing this weekend (my house was built in 1909, I think I have a chance). |

Its' really nuts. BTW - do we have any follow up on the 1914 CJ Joe Jackson that fell out of the ceiling? I know it sold to someone out west. Do we know if it authenticated? |

As much as i was joking,I know someone personally who had a bunch of Mickey Mantle cards from when they were a kid including at least 3 of his rookies he says, and hes a very honest person so i trust him (after i quizzed him about it) and when he went to college he put those cards in a box along with some other things and put it under a floorboard he took up in his room. His parents sold the house in the meantime and he never got the cards, but the cards werent worth anything back then so besides sentimental reasons, there was no reason to tear up someones floor to get his cards. So unless theyve been found already, theres someone in upper NJ who has a small fortune in Mickey Mantle cards right under their feet and doesnt know it |

to contact the current owner and tell them that as a kid you hid some valuable baseball cards in the house. Offer to show them where and to split the proceeds of sale. If they decline let them tear their house up looking for them. |

I would just hide outside in the bushes and wait for them to leave and run in after and get the prize. |

I was wondering that too Steve but my thinking was if you buy a house you buy its entire contents that are left once the previous owner moves out. The fact that he could help them out financially might be enough motivation for them to let him look but if someone came to my house claiming they have something valuable from when they were a kid and they want to tear up some floorboards,i dont know if id be too anxious to just let them in and tear away. Id take their number maybe and do it after they leave |

Legally - once you buy a house and title is transfered - you own everything in the house. |

I'm not sure about that. I seem to recall a case here in Illinois where the new owner found a shopping bag full of cash (true)left there by the previous owner and laid claim to it. It was determined, I think, that the cash had been "mislaid" and not "abandoned" so the prior owner recovered the cash. |

Steve - maybe it's different by state. When I bought my house there was such an issue so I can tell you that in OH when you buy a house, it's yours. |

Why don't Klings or Abbaticchios ever fall out of a ceiling? Why is it that only Honus Wagners are buried in ceilings or inside tires? Were these cards originally collector by squirrels? |

I suspect that the buyer and seller of this card are partners and plan to split whatever the card resells for. |

The auction is about 45 miles from where I live. And with the card not authenticated I won't be going to the auction. Holt, Michigan is close to Mason where there are lots of antique stores and antique Marts. I don't think the card will sell anyway. |

I think we have finally stumbled onto the reason why there are so few Wagners around. They didn't come in tobacco or cigarette packs, but they were inserted as premiums in bags of attic insulation. Did Piedmont 350 actually refer to the "R" value of the insulation? |

Howard, not sure exactly where the house is,i can tell you its a 2 story house and its upstairs and its not in Kearny because Id remember that but its close to there. If your house wasnt built before 1970 and/or doesnt have hardwood floors upstairs then put the crowbar down |
